“The Scarlet Ibis” Analysis Imagery and symbolism play an important factor in “The Scarlet Ibis. Answer the following questions and include an image for each answer. 1. Compare the symbolism of Doodle’s death to the scarlet ibis’ death. Write at least 1-2 paragraphs. Give at least 2-3 quotes to support your comparison and integrate the quotes into your paragraphs. 2. Choose one of the following images in the story and find at least 2-3 quotes from the story that encompass this image. Explain the significance of the images through the use of quotes. -Flowers/Trees -Pride -Birds -Red Example: In “Harold and the Purple Crayon”, the color purple is significant in the story because “his shirt was a deep plum” (60). It appears numerous times throughout the story because the image of the color purple represents his cavalier pride. Extra Credit- Explicate Doodle’s dream of Peter and the peacock- what could it possibly signify?
