CURRENT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES
This will be a discussion hour during which all participants contribute and all views about current
issues are respected. Some issues might well be controversial and that will make for lively and
friendly discussion and learning. However, there will be equal opportunity for both speaking
and listening!
Topics will be chosen a week in advance by the group and the topic leader identified. This will
allow some thought and even reading preparation if participants wish. Robin will lead the first
session on the very current topic concerning refugees but hopes then to be more a facilitator of
the sessions with the group deciding the session format.
Leader: Robin Jones
Page 8 Semester 2, 2010 University of the Third Age Armidale Inc
Phone: 6772 6384
Frequency: Every Monday

Duration: Normally 1 hour, but may extend a little from time to time to allow full discussion of
some topics
Venue: 12 Campion Parade (off Erskine St, North Hill)
Vacancies: Restricted to 10 participants to allow greater individual participation.
Costs: There are no additional costs for this course.
Start Date: 6 September 2010
Leader comment: I would act more as a facilitator than leader as the course lends itself to member participation, contribution and
interaction. Hopefully this will happen but if not I would take the more active role of leader. I'm hopeful that sessions will be lively and
thoughtful and have some divergence of ideas based on accurate facts so that we all learn from each other.

LAUGHING FOR NO REASON
Laughter is indeed the best medicine! Come along and see how you feel after laughing with
friends for just 30 minutes. Go to www.laughteryoga.org for more information. You need no extra
equipment or sportswear but clearance from a GP is recommended if you have health issues. We
do gentle stretching and breathing in addition to laughter.
You can participate standing or seated. Laughers at the Bendemeer CWA had their blood
pressures measured by the Tamworth Public Health Nurse before and after their first session and
all participants had lower readings five minutes after the laughter than they had at the start.
Imagine the improvement after completing a weekly session for the entire term! All are welcome.
