                                                                  Surgient FAQ

1. How do you access the Surgient hosted demo environment?

You can access the Surgient hosted environment via the following URL:
  http://partner.emc.demoservers.com/
Please add this new address to your bookmarks. You will be prompted to
login. Use your assigned username, password and organization. (password
is case specific – user name and organization are not)

2. How do I checkout demo for immediate use?

Checking out and scheduling a demo is connected. Click on the Library tab at
the top and choose from the list of demos (clicking on the title link) for the
specific demo of your choice (ie. Puma, Cougar, etc.)

You can rename the demo if you want (or leave it with the default name) –
this is the name that will appear in your “My Demos” tab. Then click on the
  Reserve Button.

Fill in the follow fields for Customer and Description. Click the radio button
for “Check-out Now”, choose the duration you would like to have the demo
checked out for, then click OK.

The demo instance will appear within your My Demos tab (and the Scheduled
demo area) once the demo is ready. An icon will appear under the Start
column. This will takes a few minutes to initialize and be ready for use.

   3. How do I schedule a demo for future use?

When scheduling a demo for future use the same steps are taken as above
but you need to click the radio button for Schedule instead of Check-out.
Then you need to choose the preferred checkout date from the calendar. The
rest of the steps are the same (choose a duration from the pulldown and click
       ok).

The system will automatically check out the demo for you at the time needed.
We schedule a Personal Demo using a Reservation in order to obtain and start
the virtual resources they need to demonstrate our software to our
customers. At the time set for the start of a Reservation, the resources will
be initialized and started. When you log on, the demo will already be
checked out and will be listed under the My Demo tab. However, we
recommend that you schedule your demos with sufficient time for any
necessary testing/prep before going on site with customer/prospect. (ie. If
demo is scheduled with customer for Wednesday make sure you schedule
your checkout for the Monday prior.)
Tip: Block the time you require for using the Demo with as much advance notice
       as possible.

associated with this instance and you delete it – the snapshot will also be
deleted and can not be retrieved)

   ESG Demo Team 7

7. How do I get an extension?

Should you need to extend the time of your check out beyond the time
chosen, please send an email to demoteam@emc.com letting us know how
many additional days are needed. We will try to extend the demo if
availability allows - if not, changes will be lost on check in.

8. What happens if I don’t check my demo back in within the allotted
   amount of time?

If the demo has not been checked in prior to the time allotted, the demo

not been taken, you will lose all your changes at the time of the automatic
   check in.

12. Where can I find OS login information and demo scripts?

You can find demo scripts, reference documents, animated viewlets of the
demo, powerpoint presentations, etc under the Materials section of each
demo. If you click on the Library tab and then choose one of the demos, there
is a Material section embedded into the page as well as a Material link on the
left hand navigation. Both of these places will give you the same information
   for this specific demo.

The OS Login information can also be found under the Material section. If you
click on the START HERE link this will give you the login information for the
   system.

13. How can I access the hosted environment if I have to use the
    customer’s computer?

The hosted environment can be accessed from any Web browser connected to
the Internet at the EMC „Demoservers‟ hosted portal address:
   http://partner.emc.demoservers.com/skins/dcm/static/login-account.htm

Please be aware that you will be prompted the first time you access a demo in
the Surgient portal to download the Surgient Terminal Control. It will appear
as a Security Warning as shown below:

You may also see an ActiveX dialog and must have ActiveX enabled in your
browser settings. You can check your settings by clicking the following in
   your browser: ToolsInternet OptionsSecurityCustom Level

   ESG Demo Team 13
   Internal and Confidential
If your settings are as above, you may be prompted with the following:

   simply click OK.

If you will be logging on using direct RDP, you may also need to install
Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection on your customer‟s machine (if it
isn‟t running XP). Download the file here:
   http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp

14. How do I properly exit a machine in hosted environment?
It is important to note that when you end your demo session, you MUST
choose Log Off …DO NOT shut down! Also, do not click the “X” to close the
window while still logged in because there are only two terminal server
licenses per machine. If you are locked out of your machine, click the Clear
RDP Connections link on the launch page to clear the sessions.

15. How do I change my password, time zone, etc. ?

Everyone was given the default password of demo.demo (if you changed your
password in the past, the new password has been carried over and is valid).
You can easily go in and change your password, time zone, email, etc. by
clicking the “Account Info” in the top right hand corner above the navigation.
Once you click on the Account Info tab you will see the following information:

You can enter a new name, email address, change your time zone, enter your
new password, confirm the new password, change the Region and then click
   Save.

16. How do I get content loaded on my hosted demos?

    There are two ways:
i.If the files are around 5MB you can use email them to yourself using Microsoft Outlook
Web Access (https://webmail.emc.com). Email the files to yourself, go onto the Client or
Server and log onto email through the browser using exchange, and then pull the files
    down off the email.
ii.If the files are larger than 5 MB you use ftp (Upload the files to the ftp server – go onto
the Client or Server machine and pull them down off the ftp server):

   ftp2.documentum.com

sales / aprilf00ls (those are zeros)

                                Snapshot FAQ
1. If I customize a demo, can I save the changes? Do we have Snapshot
   capabilities?

Yes we do. If you need a snapshot taken of a demo (that you have made
significant changes to) please contact demoteam@emc.com as well as your
SE Manager. We have a very limited amount of storage space for snapshots.
So we have to limit the amount of snapshots that are taken. We expect about
5% of all demos to be snapshotted. Approvals will be made by the demo team
   and SE Managers.

2. How long is a snapshot good for?

A snapshot is valid until the base image is updated. (ie. If your snapshot was
taken on a BK4 image then once we release a new version - BK5 – your
snapshot will no longer be valid) The demo team will give as much advanced
notice prior to the release of a new version of each demo to allow for
migration of custom work from one version to the next.

3. How do I load a snapshot?

After a snapshot has been taken – you will see it in your My Demos tab. It will look
like any other demo that you have checked out except it will have a check mark
under the Snapshot column (see below). To check it out, simply click on the
“Schedule Demo” link to the right of the check mark and schedule just like any other
demo. Do not delete this demo from your My Demo tab because if you do the
snapshot files will deleted and will not be retrievable.

4. Can I share my snapshot?

Please contact the demoteam@emc.com to discuss customizations on snapshots and
possibly making this snapshot available for everyone to use.

5. How long does a snapshot take to load?

It is not as fast as regular demo. It will depend on the size of the redo logs – it can
take anywhere from 10 – 45 minutes. What the snapshot copies over the redo logs
to the host assigned to your demo instance and then start up the virtual machines.

6. How long does the creation of a snapshot take?

It takes about 30 minutes for the snapshot to complete. (all users must be logged off
of the systems during the time that the snapshot is being taken)

   ESG Demo Team 16
   Internal and Confidential
7. Can I access the demo while the snapshot is in progress?

No, because the virtual machines need to be shut down in order for the data capture
   to be clean.

8. Can I snapshot a snapshot?

Yes, but only the most recent version of the snapshot will be accessible (there are no
versions - you can not revert back to a previous snapshot once a second has been
   taken).

9. What happens if I delete a personal demo that has an associated snapshot
   out of My Demo list?

The snapshot files are deleted when the demo is deleted from the My Demos page
and are no longer retrievable. (So be very careful when deleting them off your list.)

   ESG Demo Team 17
