Story time
A typical session in Nursery:
arriving at school
I come into the classroom with my
grown-up. We say “good morning” to
all my friends and teachers. My grown-
up helps me to hang up my coat and
find my name on my group board.
Then they help me to choose a book to
take home.
A typical session in Nursery:
small-group time
After our finger-strong
activities, my teacher asks us
to tidy up and then I sit down
quietly with my small group.
We say hello to each other
and do some counting and
singing.
A typical session in Nursery:
adult-initiated learning
I walk round the Nursery with
my group, inside and outside, to
look at all the exciting activities
our teacher has set up for us.
Then I plan my learning. I love
riding the trikes and playing with
playdough.
A typical session in Nursery:
child-initiated learning
After group time I get busy,
working with my friends. I love
playing outside and my teachers
make sure there is lots out there
for me to do as long as I have
got my coat and wellies! Some
of my friends prefer to stay
inside.
A typical session in Nursery:
snack time
After we have tidied up I go back to
my small group and sit down with
my friends to have my fruit and a
drink.
A typical session in Nursery:
the end of the session
We finish our session on the
carpet with stories and songs.
Our grown-ups come into the
Nursery and wait for our teachers
to call us.
