Restore Not Destroy!
I had no plans to blog for awhile.. but a situation came up.. So here it is.. RESTORE!
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of
meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the
law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1-2)
Many times, when we hear that a person in our church is struggling spiritually or has fallen into sin, we
unfortunately make excuses to avoid involving ourselves in helping that individual become strong in the
faith again. I’m guilty of it myself; copping out by telling myself that I really don’t know that person well
enough, or that my life is too busy.
But if we are to take our faith in God seriously, we will feel obligated to help the spiritually weak
renew their relationship with our Lord Jesus. Not because it’s something that we have to do, but because
the Holy Ghost will create in us a genuine concern for those around us.
When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus told us: “Thou shall love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang
all the law and the prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40). God obviously wants us to help those around us.
Generally, when a brother or sister has fallen into sin, people react in one of two ways¾either through
condemnation or by avoidance. Often times we focus too much attention on the problem and not enough
on the solution. The Bible gives us clear principles on what we need to do when we see a brother or sister
in need. Just as Jesus Christ came to seek and save those that are lost, we need to use godly wisdom in
drawing that person closer to Him so that He can redeem them.
Condemnation is not the route, for the Word says that people in sin are condemned already. True, there
may be people that have had their conscience so seared that they no longer feel condemned, and in that
case the apostle Paul tells us that we should deliver that person over to Satan in hopes that they will be
caused to repent and be saved in the day that meet the Lord (I Corinthians 5:5).
Nevertheless, people that do feel condemned usually want help, and so, avoiding that individual is not
the answer, either. I know of a couple of instances where people fell into fornication and, because people
stood back and didn’t try to help them, their condemnation intensified, making it harder for them to
accept God’s forgiveness. Fortunately, those individuals are now growing in the Lord again, but many,
because it wasn’t apparent that someone cared, give up on God. By avoiding brothers and sisters who
have fallen, we are telling them that we don’t care, and through association, we are telling them that Jesus
Those of us that are strong in the Lord have a duty to reach out to the spiritually weak and show them
Christ’s love, for we are His hands and voice. Our Lord Jesus is not willing that anyone should die in
their sins, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). The consequences are eternal.
So what should we do? Most of the time, all that is required is that we show that individual true
friendship and that we still care. Listen to them; being sensitive to the leading of the Spirit to see whether
we can encourage them through the Word, or if we should just keep our mouth shut. At all times we need
to intercede on their behalf through prayer and fasting, asking the Lord to break the hold that sin has on
that individual’s life.
Critics have sneered that Christians often leave their spiritually weak and wounded behind to die. But
true Christians are interconnected one with another, for we are the body of Christ, and if one individual
suffers, then we all suffer (1 Corinthians 12:12-26). Because of this, we need to help our spiritually weak
brother or sister. When we can learn to do this effectively, what a tremendous witness it will be to the
world, for Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another”
If they don't take heed well, you done your part. Let us live in peace and harmony with one another;
the enemy already does a good job at destruction. Mind you I am not saying agree with the sin...expose it
in love and offer restoration in Jesus Mighty Name!
I love you all NO matter what!! ((((((Group Huggzzzzz))))))))))

You understood exactly what I was trying to do...Sometimes one has to create a last straw or a final "HIT
BOTTOM" in order to get someone to wake up and journey along the right path...I maynot have made
myself very popular but I hope to God the person I am thinking about will turn his face towards God...
I really do thank you for understanding and heeding the holy spirit!

Amen Sister, I too once fell out of Gods grace, and made him a disgrace, But Praise God I had a few
around me, that reached out their loving hand and helped me back to the foot of the cross. We need to be
an encourager instead of a discourager, I just blogged about this last week, I know exactly where your
coming from, I too have been guilty of looking at the sin instead of the solution. We are not to judge, but
to uplift. wonderful post, i really am blessed by reading it, your so right, it's time we let God change our
attitudes, and remember where we came from, and reach out and help those whom Satan has deceived,
The Bible tells us to help restore them, those of us who are strong, help to bear the infirmities of those
who are weak. We all get weak at times, but remember someone helped us when we were down, showing
us Godly love and compassion. I could preach 2 hours right here. God bless you sister. love you.

Joy, Very well put! i am so sick and tired of the so called other christians putting their nose up at
christians who give into a sin.
Jesus said "Let the first without sin throw the first stone." well HE knew HE was the only one that could
have thrown a stone, but HE loved Her so much He comforted intead of Comdemned.
Let me tell ALL of you, if your really Christian, you are a sinner saved by Grace, There are too many on
here that think their spiritual CRAP dont stink!
I have prayed and Hope with all my Blogs that the Lord leads and it also shows that I am a weak sinner,
made only strong when I walk side by side with the FATHER, when I let SIN creep in , the Blogs are
drivel, but when God leads, OH what HE has to say.
I grew up in a FUNDAMENTAL BAPTIST HOME as a PK. I heard what was great and super IDEAS for
the Look at what I have done movement.
I get ridiculed quite often by certain theological rocket scientist. When I write something they cant see, or
something that doesn’t encourage them, I hear about it.
News flash , people We are on a world taken over with SIN, even some of GODS favs fell, David, Peter,
Judas, and on and on...want to tell me David stayed out of Heaven. I would rather be COLD or HOT, not
LUKEWARM! And be spewed out of GODS mouth. Yes we will have our test, and we will fail some of
them, I have raised Five KIDS and let me tell you if I had come down on them as much as some of you
come down on us, the CHILDREN of GOD. I would LOSE all of them. This is it , Take JOYS advice,
heed the word!!! RESTORE DONT DESTROY!! and Frankly I never got what two cents was anyway.
SO KEEP IT!!! GREAT BLOG JOY!!!! I LOVE YOU!!! the LUNATIC.

22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy,
mixed with fear-- hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
We are directed to work at this task, it is the work of those in the body of Christ. A true Christian is a
follower of Christ, being the salt and showing the light. This message reminds us all of that which Jesus
Himself put forth for us to do... LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

God takes a safe course with His children, that they may not be condemned with the world, He permits
the world to condemn them, that they may not love the world, the world hates them....

Well here I am! I had a good read and this topic brings back many memories of my Christian Church! Joy
you couldn't be more precise in your words. Sadly, even Christians can become judgemental when it
comes to someone living in sin! The fact is, all of us and I mean ALL including Christians, are not
exempt from sin! Who are we to judge someone's wrong doing? To be Christ like, you need to show the
way, have a certain magnetism about you, be a shinning and radiant light so that those that are withering
away and don't know the Lord, may want some of what you have and thereon, get to know Him. There's
no degree in sin so what makes us different to a man accused of fornication, murder, robbery, etc? Our
hearts! Love your neighbour remember? You can only achieve this by humbling yourself towards God!
By saying to the Lord that cleanse you of your faults, sins and ways. Let Him know that you cannot deal
with them unless He helps you. To humble one's self is to be unselfish, without pride, caring, wanting to
help someone who needs it more than you, to lower yourself to other's suffering! When you're humble,
you are more in line with what God expects from you because He knows your heart. What good is a heart
that harbours pride, jealousy, hatred? No matter where you are, if you fellowship or not, humble yourself
and help those in need. You will not be saved by your works but by the condition of your hearts! Hope I
passed the test of faith! God Bless all!

This has definitely hit home with me, for just last night dealing with my husbands addiction ((which at
one time I was also))I have had to try and restore him with the love of Christ and not condemnation as I
used too with the yelling and the fussing sometimes even wanting to fight him because of the anger, but
this time after praying and the Holy Spirits guidance I was able to do it in love .......This is a much needed
post for those of us who have forgotten that we haven't always been saved and someone prayed for us and
gave us love as well.........God bless you

* 4 GIVEN
Very good blog. I am guilty of not helping people that fall, but it's not because I think I'm a better
Christian than them but that I was such a weak Christian myself that if I probably would fall along with
them if I tried to help them. Like a poor swimmer that's trying to help a person that's drowning, he might
drown you too.
Don't take that as a cope out but I think if you try to help someone that falls you better have it together
yourself or you won't be much help.
That's why we need to keep in the Word and be ready. Thanks for sharing, God bless. Ron

I agree with 4Given. You better be right with God yourself and not be in sin before you attempt to talk to
a Brother/Sister who has fallen into sin.
Great post Joy. Love ya girl!

He is like ooooh well, I usually have a drink ya know to show them I am not better then them and all. I
AM LIKE What?????????? Anyways after a loooooooong talk he finally cried and admitted he was back
drinking like before and then he said,.I know why too... I condemned a man who I thought had to many
faults and now look where I am? The good news is... That day was the start of his restoration Praise
