                        Butterflies are Insects

Butterflies and insects have these body parts:
                 •Six jointed legs
                 •3 body parts
                 •A pair of antennae
                 •Compound eyes
                 •An exoskeleton

The three main body parts of a butterfly are:
                 the head
                 thorax (the chest)
                 abdomen (the tail end)
•Head
   Proboscis
   Eyes
   Antennae
•Thorax
   Wings
   Legs
•Abdomen
Antennae
The antennae are
used to smell food.
Eyes
The eyes contain
many tiny lenses.
Proboscis
The proboscis is a long
mouth used to drink
nectar.
