Fox Senior High School
Dear Parents / Guardians, You are receiving this letter and contract because your son/daughter has been selected to participate in the M.A.R.S. (missing assignment and review strategies) program, which will encourage them to not only do their assignments, but also ultimately find success at Fox High School. Students are placed in this program when they consistently make the decision not to turn in assignments. We believe that there is a direct correlation between assignment completion and the academic success of our students. We want to provide every opportunity for our students to succeed, so we are asking for your assistance in becoming an accountability partner for your son/daughter. If a student fails to turn in an assignment, he/she will be required to attend an Academic Study Hall for one hour to complete that assignment the following day. If he/she chooses not to attend the Academic Study Hall, he/she will be required to attend an after-school detention to finish the assignment. Any student failing to show up for after school detention will be turned over to his/her administrator for discipline. We appreciate your cooperation and know that you will do everything in your power to help your son/daughter achieve success here at Fox High School. Please read over the contract, sign it and return it to school within 24 hours. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email your son/daughter’s teacher or administrator.

The Steps of the MARS Program:
After about one month teachers will put students on Academic Probation due to missing assignments, incomplete assignments, not working to their full potential, etc. The teacher will discuss with students the need for turning in completed work on time and the need to change behavior/choices they are making. Any time after students are put on Academic Probation the teacher can choose to put students on their Top 10 “O-list”. Once a student has hit this level the teacher will contact the parents informing them of their son or daughter’s class progress and inform them that a contract will be sent home requiring their signatures. This contract will explain the consequences of the Top Ten “O-List” as well as the school’s expectations for parent’s intervention in helping their son/daughter to complete all work on time.
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO GET THE CONTRACT SIGNED AND RETURNED WITHIN 24 HOURS. ANY STUDENT THAT DOES NOT GET THE CONTRACT SIGNED AND RETURNED WILL BE ASSIGNED AN AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION UNTIL THE CONTRACT IS RETURNED.
After being put on teacher’s Top Ten “O-List” if the student fails to turn in any assignment, or turns in an incomplete assignment the following actions will be taken. If student does not have the daily assignment they will fill out an “Outer Zone” form in place of the assignment and turn it in to the teacher. The teacher will sign the “O-Zone” sheet, attach a new worksheet and inform the student that they will be required to attend an “O-Zone” the next day. If the student brings the assignment in completed before the tardy bell the following day the teacher will dismiss them from attending “O-Zone”. If not, the student must attend “O-Zone” that day to complete the assignment. “O-Zone” will run Monday through Thursday for one hour – 2:30 – 3:30. Two study halls per day with one teacher per study hall – Math and Science, History and Language Arts. Any student failing to attend “O-Zone” to make up assignment will be required to attend an after school detention to finish the assignment. Any student failing to show up for after school detention will be turned over to their administrator for discipline.
