Selection Procedure for MBA Programme

1. Duration of MBA (Full Time) Programme:
The duration of the programme is 2 years (4 semesters). Semester timings are as follows:
Semester I & III (Autumn): August – December.
Semester II & IV (Winter): January – June.
A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks in Aggregate or in Major Subject from a
recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institution. Mathematics at +2 level is desirable.
Students in their final year of degree course and expecting results by 31 of October of next year
may also apply. For e.g. If you are applying for the MBA program of 2010, then the results must
be available by 31 of October, 2010. (Relaxation of marks is applicable as per Government of
India rules.) Total Intake is 46 seats.
3. Selection of Candidate:
A. Candidates desirous of seeking admission to the MBA programme are to appear in the
Management Aptitude test (MAT) conducted by AIMACMS New Delhi held on the first
Sunday of December every year throughout the country. We consider only December
B. Based on the performance of December MAT, shortlisted applicants will be called for
Group Discussion (GD) and personal Interview (PI). Only those candidates who have
purchased the Tezpur University form and opted for Tezpur University in the MAT
application form will be entertained, provided they are within the cut off score. The
GD and PI will be held in the University Campus at Napaam, Tezpur, and the candidates
will have to arrange for travel and stay (if necessary) in Tezpur on their own. The list of
selected candidates will be finalized based on their performance in MAT, GD & PI, past
academic performance, extra curricular activities, work experience etc.
C. The list of selected candidates for admission, including a waiting list, along with the date
and time of admission shall be notified in the University Notice Board and the selected
candidates will be intimated individually through letter. The list will also be available at
the University web site www.tezu.ernet.in
4. How to Apply
Eligible candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at Tezpur University are required
to fill up the Tezpur University admission form apart from the MAT form.
The MAT Registration form (not the University form), which is available along with the MAT
bulletin is to be submitted directly to AIMA, Delhi as per procedure specified there. Applicants
are advised to retain a photocopy of the filled up MAT form.
The Tezpur University (TU) form is generally issued sometime in September/October and it
should reach the Head, Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University, on or before
15 December. However, the University form is available after the last date with a late fee,
which will be accepted on or before 15 January , of the coming year.
It is to be noted that duly filled in Tezpur University form submission is mandatory for all
candidates. They are also to chose TEZPUR UNIVERSITY as an option in the MAT form,
without which the candidates’ scores will not be sent to the University and thus it will not be
possible to shortlist such candidates.
Students are advised to go through the prospectus carefully before filling in the application form.
5. Necessary Forms to be Filled:
1. MAT Form (To be sent to AIMA, Delhi). Tezpur University must be mentioned as
your choice in the MAT application form.
2. Tezpur University (TU) Form. (To be sent to Tezpur University) Make sure that you
attach a photocopy of the MAT application form with the TU form.
No enclosures need to be attached along with the T.U. application form except for the
photocopy of MAT Registration form. Candidates shall have to produce the original of all
documents at the time of personal interview and admission and submit a set of photocopies of the

date shall immediately be allotted to the candidates from the waiting merit list and they shall
also have to deposit the stipulated amount by a specified date.
7. Provisional Admission:
Applicants who are going to appear in the qualifying examination of a particular year will also be
provisionally admitted if otherwise found eligible at the Admission Test/Interview on the
