All attorneys in the Group either have obtained or are currently pursuing Masters in Law Degrees
in Taxation. This post-doctoral degree, above and beyond the law degree, focuses intensively on
more complex and sophisticated planning strategies and knowledge.

Unlike many estate planning attorneys, the experience of Cole, Schotz attorneys encompasses
more than estate planning. Our practice extends to broader areas of tax and corporate law. This
tax experience enables us to better understand the tax ramifications of various planning
approaches. Our corporate work both complements and brings insight to the business owner in
his/her estate planning decisions. Specifically, by better understanding succession issues,
business operations and financial information, we are uniquely qualified to offer clients solutions
to preserve assets both for retirement and for their heirs, and to assure a guided future for their
  businesses.

Over the last 75 years, this firm has focused on the importance of “listening” to clients. By truly
understanding the needs and objectives of each client and by understanding the business
operations, we develop a customized estate plan designed for that client.

In counseling a client on an estate plan, we collect all the appropriate information, and clearly
explain why each decision is recommended. While the attorney’s role is to provide information
and explain the benefits of each recommended option, the ultimate decision-maker on the estate
  plan is the client.

We have a great deal of experience in working with agents of the federal and state tax
departments and have established credibility for our knowledge, preparedness and creativity.
