________________
       1
NOTE: The textual history of Revelation differs greatly from the rest of the NT.
Though A and C are later witnesses than  and a, both are of superior textual value.
                                          47

The Byzantine tradition has at least two major subdivisions: MSS that follow the text of
Andreas of Caesarea’s commentary on Revelation, and those that preserve a strictly
Byzantine (Koine) text (see NA26, 53).
For a brief overview, see Aland/Aland, Text, 242-43; for details see J. Schmid,
Studien zür Geschichte des griechischen Apkalypse-Textes, 3 vols. (Munich: Karl Zink
Verlag, 1955-56); and Z. C. Hodges and A. L. Farstad, The Greek New Testament
According to the Majority Text (Nashville: Nelson, 1982) xxxii-xli, xlv-xlvi.
