JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Housing Support Assistant
Grade: Scale 3
Directorate: Housing Strategy
Service: Housing Choice – Housing Support
Responsible to: Team Leader Housing Support
All posts currently covered by National Joint Committee conditions of service are
subject to single status and job evaluation reviews.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Housing Assistants will undertake specific and general administrative tasks across the full
range of housing services. This job description is intended to cover all posts, and further
detailed information will be given on appointment to individual vacancies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be computer literate in excel and Microsoft Word and able as required to produce
documents and information.
2. Deal competently and sensitively with telephone enquiries from the public and callers to
the office.
3. Log and distribute incoming mail promptly and ensure outgoing mail is despatched
without delay.
4. Assist with the provision of basic office services including photocopying, ordering of
stationery, upkeep of computerised filing and record systems, and the processing of
accounts and payment of invoices.
5. Contribute to the preparation and distribution of basic statistical and monitoring
information.
6. Respond to routine correspondence in accordance with service standards.
7. Carry out interviews in relation to tenancy sign ups.
8. Arrange the removal and storage of furniture for members of the public.
9. Any other duties as directed, in accordance with the purpose of the post and
commensurate with the grade of the job and with regard to the guidelines contained
