Although most citizens may believe law enforcement services are pro-
vided only by certified law enforcement officersand detectives, without
the support of many civilians, their work would be much more difficult or
inefficient. One example people may be aware of in Pasco County is fo-
rensics investigators, our equivalent of TV’s crime scene investigators, or
CSI. You probably see these vital civilian support personnel on the news
whenever we have a major crime like murder or aggravated assault.

But there are many more civilian support positions that are vital to the
professional operatio Pasco Sheriff’s Office. One such group of civilians
that directly affects the work of our front-line road patrol deputies and
detectives is the Crime Analysis Unit.

The Crime Analysis Unit does what its name implies: Gathers raw crime *Benedetto’s Italiano Ristorante
and incident data contained in our reports, analyzes this data using sophis-
ticated computer programs, and forecasts future crime trends or targets,
is now offering 10% off the entire

to assist them in deciding where to concentrate their efforts to catch the *Prudential Tropical Realty located
criminals in the act, or help them track down the criminals who may have at 20537 Amberfield Dr. in
committed crimes. How important is this support network and does it Land O’ Lakes, has a new Branch

On October 23, 2007, while watching the evening news at home, Crime
Analyst Regina Chimile viewed a news segment about a hit-and-run *Matt Riddell, Owner of Money

license tag number. At work the next day, Regina utilized a program that Miracle Network.
enables a search of partial vehicle tags, and discovered a red Ford Taurus
whose owner matched the witness description. She also determined that *Ierna’s Heating & Cooling located at

In a more recent case, 20-year-old Crime Analyst Amber Vogt was review-

other incidents, including burglaries. One of the incidents listed a white Parkway was much in need for a new
vehicle and partial tag number. Amber ran a search of the partial tag and utility vehicle.
a match was found to a Volkswagen Jetta. Continuing her research, Amber
then determined the registered vehicle owner lived in Holiday, had been
arrested in 2004 for business burglaries and had recently been released *Regional Medicial Center Bayonet
from prison. She also noticed some of the same businesses hit in 2004 by Point is having their “Swing For Char-

forwarded this information to our Property Crimes Unit where a detective For information contact Steven
soon arrested the suspect for seven business burglaries, and he could be
  facing charges for several more.
                                                                                 Goldstein at 727-869-5494.

As these examples illustrate, although you may not notice the work of
many of our civilian employees, their support is vital to our operation.
You may often hear or read about the many honorable actions of our
law enforcement and detention deputies. But behind the scenes at
the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, there are hundreds of hard-working and
dedicated civilians who are also responsible for ensuring the safety of
  our community.
