New/Updated Issues Issues Status (New, Newly Completed) Mitigation Plan The PM and the ITS development supervisor involved with the project formally requested the ITS Technology Integration & Design group for a system-wide data encryption solution. This issue has grown into a broader issue of data and application security (see next issue) ITS has performed a pre-deployment security assessment of the Student Direct Deposit web application. The draft report was delivered to the project team on May 14, 2009 There is a need to encrypt student bank account information as it will now be accessed via a web application. Newly Completed ITS has raised security concerns about current and proposed front- and back-end processes involving student bank account information. New The project team developed deployment strategies to propose to project owner and ITS Security Interim and long-term project deliverables and deployment strategy were established for the project ITS has raised additional concerns about data encryption key management (a process and standards for “wallet” maintenance) All future project deliverables are AT RISK until ITS DBA/Security resolves the data encryption management issue. (assumption was weak concerning encryption of student bank account information accessed via a web application) Dependencies  Maximum benefits are dependent upon and constrained by system’s ability to require or otherwise significantly increase student participation in direct deposit and use of electronic payment and deposit advice. (no impact on project deployment) Project roll-out is dependent on Rdb to Oracle migration project (expected to be completed by February 2008). Oracle migration successfully completed in early March: Student Direct Deposit web application pilot, roll-out and completion date have been delayed by a few weeks respectively.    NEW: ITS DBA/Security resolving the Data Encryption Key Management th issue prior to July 6 , 2009 is critical to project completion.
