					Myth: It is a traditional story, which may describe the origins of the world
and/or of people. A myth is an attempt to explain mysteries, supernatural
events, and cultural traditions. A myth can involve gods or other creatures.
Characteristics Myth:
     Hero with a super power and Intervention of gods
     Adventures/tests/tasks
     Supernatural – going to the underworld, performing superhuman task
     Problem caused by greed, jealousy (feelings that drive the story)
     Explains the world and natural events
     Not always a happy ending
     Lesson in the story for the reader
     Gods sometimes appear in disguised form.
     Magic is often present in myths.
     Human emotions are experienced by the gods.
     The gods, goddesses, and heroes are super human in nature.

Purpose of Myth:
     Show events that bend or break natural laws (like people flying).
     explain natural phenomena or an occurrence.
     to explain the creation of the world through religious beliefs
     to teach people moral lessons.
     to explain some historical event.
     to explain some ancient religious practices
     to reveal the common hopes and fears of mankind.
