              Sight Awareness Information Day
              Saturday 11 June – 11 am to 3 pm
                 Disability Resource Centre
           1a Warner Road, Walthamstow E17 7DY

The aim of this exhibition is to provide useful and interesting
information to:
    Visually impaired people
 Parents or carers of a visually impaired person
 People experiencing the early stages of sight loss
 People with a general interest in eye health care
 Those working in the field of visual impairment.

Come along to learn about a range of daily living, technical,
communication and mobility equipment that is suitable for visually
impaired people. And, if you are visually impaired, why not bring your
favourite piece of equipment to show to others? Unfortunately, we
cannot insure against loss of, or damage to, any equipment, but there
will be room at the exhibition to demonstrate items that individuals find
really useful.

Come along to find out what statutory and voluntary services are
available in the borough, learn about benefits and entitlements, how
the sight loss referral process works, advice on how to keep your eyes
healthy and what actions you may be able to take to slow down the
development of sight loss if this has already started to affect you.

As well as the Low Vision forum, the list of exhibitors, which is still
increasing, currently includes:
 Waltham Forest Social Services Sensory Team
    Waltham Forest Talking Newspaper
 The Waltham Forest Blind Association
 Joseph Clarke School and Educational Service for the Visually
 Various representatives from Whipps Cross Hospital, including
the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer at the Eye Treatment Centre
 Redbridge and Waltham Forest Optometrists
    Humanware
    Optelec
    Valleys WordWorks
    An audio description expert.

We are delighted that the Waltham Forest Mayor will be present to
open the event. Light refreshments, tea, cakes, etc, will be on sale
and there will be various give aways too.
