List of Project Requirements
Project requirements define the essential objectives of an undertaking. They give project
managers the resources that will be needed to integrate processes and successfully apply them to
improve project success rates, reduce developmental costs, reduce rework, and accelerate time to
market, or “go live” dates. They are based on experience and best practice models. Concise
project requirements will detail all concrete requirements that are needed to initiate the project or
scope of work. The following is an outline of typical components that need to be addressed
when developing project requirements.

Include a breakout of costs for:
     Equipment
     Materials
     Supplies
     Labor
You will also want to include design specifications, any functional requirements, a process flow
schematic or logic diagram, and a proto type or mock up. Give more detailed elaborations
regarding your quality measures, review and scheduling processes. With your system
requirements documentation, include system architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and
information on user requirements.

Budget
The budget is a calculation of all expenditures that would be associated with administering the
project test plan. Costs include labor, materials, and any other expenses that are connected to the
venture. Many times, project budgets are broken down into specific segments or tasks, with
cumulative budgets assigned to each.

Product Feature Test Planning
Test plans will give details about the strategy that will be used to verify and ensure that a product
or system meets the required design specifications as well as the other requirements. Test plans
are generally designed or prepared with input from Test Engineers and will depend on the
product and the responsibility of the organization to which the test plan applies. A test plan may
include one or more of the following:

Type of Test Plan Test Plan Purposes

Design Verification or Compliance Test Conducted during the product’s developmental or approval
                                                      stages.

Manufacturing or Production Test Performed during the preparation or assembly of a product.
Testing is ongoing; this ensures that performance is
continually verified and quality is constantly monitored.

Acceptance or Commissioning Test Performed at the time when products are installed or delivered.

Service and Repair Test Routinely conducted on an as needed bases throughout the
service life cycle of the product.

Regression Test Carried out on existing products that are operational, the
process verifies the product’s current functionality; even when
other aspects of the environment have changed. (e.g.,
upgrading the platform that an existing application is currently
                                                      running on.)

The following is a sample of a test plan, and its testing criteria.
