					Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth, Indian Violinist, composer, teacher


Jyotsna started learning South Indian classical vocal music from mother and her Guru Smt.
Rathna Srikantiah. She then learnt violin under Late Sri R. R. Keshavamurthy, the
legendary seven stringed violinist. She gave her first performance at the age of nine. She
has given numerous solo, jugalbandhi, jazz fusion concerts apart from accompanying artists
of repute like Dr. Balamuralikrishna and Sudha Raghunathan.

Jyotsna is the most sought after British Indian violinist. She is one of the very few names
that springs to music collaborators while seeking artistes of high versatility across Cross-over,
Indian Jazz & Experimental music genres. She has a fusion band of her own called 'Fusion
Dreams’, which performs Contemporary Indian Music, Bollywood and Indian Jazz.


Dr. Srikanth is intensely rooted in south Indian classical music alongside having formal
western classical music education. Adding on to this, she has flourished as a performer and
composer, exploring lush ground in the crossover between Indian music and a variety of
contemporary flavours.

She has been featured in many major global music events and venues like WOMAD - UK,
Red Violin Festival - Wales, BBC Proms, Cleveland Music Festival – USA, East-West
International Music Encounter – India and The Music Academy Chennai.

Based in London, Dr. Srikanth has received many awards & titles at National &
International levels. Jyotsna is also an accomplished western classical violinist. She has
played violin for nearly 200 commercial Indian films under music directors like Illayaraja,
Keeravani & Hamsalekha. She is a medical doctor and a postgraduate in Pathology.

Kalaimamani Shri. Unnikrishnan released Jyotsna’s Illayaraja Hits on Instrumental in
London’s Watersmeet Theatre in August, 2011.

On 30th August, 2011 - Shrilankan High Commisioner to Italy Designate, Mr. Asitha Pereira
released Chants for Children Album designed for kids of the West. Sanskrit prayers with
western music ornamentation.

She was conferred a Fellowship in Carnatic Music from the Trinity College of Music, London.
She has been training numerous students in London through her organisation Dhruva
Foundation.
