Commission of Mauritius
Applications are invited for suitable candidates, with qualifications in law, for the post of Legal
Executive and Case Officer (Legal) at the Competition Commission of Mauritius, a statutory body
established in 2009 to enforce Competition Law in Mauritius. See our web site at www.ccm.mu for
more information about the work of the CCM.
(1) Legal Executive
Working at the forefront, your primary responsibility will be to lead investigations and other
policy work by providing rigorous legal analysis. You will provide legal advice in a wide range
of areas under the Competition including decisions on business arrangements and conduct.
You will draft legal documentation needed in the course of CCM work and will present and
assist in the appeal cases. You will assist in Competition Commission Advocacy programs for
the public and the business community. You will also prepare inputs for the Commission’s
Annual Report, Research Papers, website materials, bulletin and other publications.
A good degree in Law with at least 2 years standing at the Bar or an attorney with at least 2
years of practice or alternatively, a good degree in law with a minimum of 5 years working
a knowledge of competition law though not essential will be an advantage
Analytical, self-motivated and resourceful
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work outside rigid job specifications and in a matrix structure and ability to work
in a team
Terms and Remuneration:
You will be paid a salary in the scale of Rs. 35,000 x 1200 - 36,200 x 1400 - 46,000 x 2000 -
64,000 and depending on your qualification and experience, you may enter at any point
within the salary structure. In addition to your salaries, you will be entitled to other fringe
(2) Case Officer (Legal)
As a case officer, you will work on investigations of alleged anti-competitive behaviour,
reporting to more senior staff. You will use your expertise in law. You will collect, compile
and analyse business information, taking part in meetings with parties under investigation.
You will help assess the facts gathered, in the legal framework provided by the Competition
Act 2007 and the established legal and economics principles developed by competition
authorities worldwide. You will prepare analyses and reports for the Commission. In
addition, you will be expected to assist and take part in capacity-building at the CCM.
Bachelor degree in Law or other related subject from a recognised university
Relevant working experience would be an advantage
Good research, analytical and writing skills
Be computer literate, and work to short deadlines and outside job specifications
Demonstrate team spirit and be self-motivated
Terms and Remuneration:
You will be paid a salary in the scale of Rs 26,500 x 900- 27,400 x 1000 - 31,000 x 1200 -
36,200 x 1,400 - 48,000 and depending on qualification and experience, a person may enter
at any point within the salary structure. In addition to your salaries, you will be entitled to
other fringe benefits.
