Workflow While all group members are expected to contribute to the submission of digital objects to the Quartus Music Collection, the other three steps of the submission workflow each been assigned to one or two group members for consistency and efficiency. Submitters: Gregory Sigman, Julie Buchanan, Rachel Somerville, Laura O’Neil We have chosen to allow all Quartus group members (and only Quartus group members) submit digital objects to our Music Collection. During the Submission step, group members must complete the following required metadata fields when uploading their digital object to the Quartus Music Collection on DSpace: Song Title. In addition, fields including Alternative Title, Musician Name, Date of Publication should be provided if known. Accept/Reject: Julie Buchanan At this step, the assigned group member will accept the task to either accept or reject a digital object that has been submitted to our collection. Next the assigned group member will review the submitted digital object to determine if it is consistent with the scope and requirements of the collection. Upon making this determination, she will either approve or reject the submission in question. Accept/Reject Metadata: Rachel Somerville and Laura O’Neil At this step, one of the assigned group members will accept the task to either accept or reject the metadata associated with a digital object that has been submitted to our collection. Next that group member will carefully review the metadata that has been submitted along with the digital object to determine that it is complete and appears accurate. She will determine if all the metadata fields that are required for the submitter are complete. If all required metadata fields are complete, the metadata will be accepted. If any of the required metadata fields are incomplete, the metadata will be rejected. If the metadata is rejected, the submitter may complete the fields and resubmit the metadata. Edit Metadata: Gregory Sigman At this step, the assigned group member will accept the task to edit the metadata associated with the submitted digital object. Next, the assigned group member will review the associated metadata and edit it as necessary. The following administrative metadata fields will be completed in this step: Date of Entry into Collection, Duration, Time Signature, Instrumentation, and Archivist who Created Metadata. Additional administrative metadata fields may be used as needed, including Date of Recording, Original Format, Current Format, State/ Region of Origin, Submitted By, Record Company, Transmission/Migration, Audio Technician, Bit Rate, Bit Depth, and Stereo/Mono.
