This is a press release from the European Commission Ceci est un communiqué de presse de la Commission Européenne EU Roaming Website Now Almost Complete: 2 more mobile operators communicate their Eurotariff offer to the European Commission Following the publication of the European Commission's roaming website on 2 August which lists the Eurotariff offers per operator for all 27 EU Member States, 2 further mobile operators have in the meantime communicated their Eurotariff offer, thereby responding to the Commission's questionnaire sent in mid-July to the CEOs of 95 mobile operators in the EU. • • One, Austria Wind Hellas, Greece The information received by these operators has been verified by the Commission services. They have now been included in the Commission's roaming website. As a result, the Commission's roaming website has been updated with the new information received as of 15:00 today. This update is available at: http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/activities/roaming/implementation/b enchmark/index_en.htm The Commission's overview of the new Eurotariff offers made by mobile operators in the EU is now almost complete apart from one operator in Estonia, and one operator in Cyprus. All operators who have communicated their Eurotariff offers to the Commission now comply with the new EU Roaming Regulation. In 2/3 of the EU Member States, there is at least one operator offering roaming tariffs below the ceilings prescribed by the new Regulation. A majority of mobile operators is also offering and/or activating the Eurotariff earlier than prescribed by law. In October, the Commission, together with the European Regulators Group, will make a more detailed and qualitative assessment of the transition to the Eurotariff. Background: By means of a questionnaire, the Commission had asked in July 95 mobile operators from all 27 EU Member States about when the new Eurotariff tariffs no higher than €0.49 per minute for calls made abroad and no higher than €0.24 for calls received abroad, excluding VAT - was offered and introduced, and its exact rate. Mobile operators were required by the new EU Roaming Regulation (in force since 30 June 2007) to make available, and actively offer, a Eurotariff to their customers by 30 July. Once a customer accepts this offer, the operator has one month maximum to activate this tariff. If the consumer remains passive, he will automatically switched to the Eurotariff on 30 September.
