Mr. Banks learns that one of the young men he has seen occasionally about the house is about to
become his son-in-law. Daughter Kay announces the engagement out of nowhere. Mrs. Banks and
her sons are happy, but Mr. Banks is in a dither. The groom-to-be, Buckley Dunstan, appears on the
scene and Mr. Banks realizes that the engagement is serious. Buckley and Kay don't want a "big"
wedding—just a simple affair with a few friends! We soon learn, however, that the "few" friends idea
is out. Then trouble really begins. The guest list grows larger each day, a caterer is called in, florists,
furniture movers and dressmakers take over, and the Banks household is soon caught in turmoil—
not to mention growing debt. When Kay, in a fit of temper, calls off the wedding, everyone's patience
snaps. But all is set right, and the wedding (despite more last-minute crises) comes off beautifully. In
the end, the father of the bride is a happy, proud man, glad that the wedding is over, but knowing too
that it was worth all the money and aggravation to start his daughter off so handsomely on the road
      to married life.

REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2010 SUMMER MUSICALS
                                   MISS SAIGON, OLIVER!
MISS SAIGON: June 18-27, Promenade Theatre
This June "Heat is On in Saigon," at Repertory Company Theatre! This production of
MISS SAIGON will run June 18-27, Promenade Theatre, 650 N Coit, Richardson. Show
times are FR/SAT 7:30, SUN 2:00. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, $14 youth and
can be purchased in advanced by calling the Box Office at 972-690-5029. (This produc-
tion is not recommended for children.) Show Sponsor: Bell Helicopter

The London musical import, which updated Madame Butterfly to the final days of the
Viet Nam War, will be performed by the Theatre’s acclaimed REP Company (55 mem-
ber acting troupe). MISS SAIGON is by the creators of Les Miserables. Music is by
Claude-Michel Schnberg, lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Alain Boublil, and the book
and original French lyrics are by Alain Boublil. “The one thing everyone asks me is the
helicopter, says Michelle Breedlove, show’s director and choreographer. “I have some
clever ideas about that. I do not think the audiences will be disappointed.” Breedlove has
several large scale musicals already under her belt (Grease, Urinetown, Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Footloose). “It’s so great to have Broadway musicals
available right here in our community” explains Debra Carter, artistic director. “We love
to tackle the big shows! Especially during the Summer.”

Military/Veteran Half Price Tickets available for the Friday and Sunday Shows.

Cast includes: Gayla Cockrall as Kim, Calvin Roberts as Chris and Jessica Gabrillo as Tam.

  OLIVER: July 16-25, Promenade Theatre
Consider yourself invited to Repertory Company Theatre’s Tony-award winning musical, OLIVER, July 16-25 at the Promenade
Theatre, 650 N Coit, Richardson. Show times are FR/SAT 7:30 and SUN 2:00 for the two weekend run. Tickets ($25 adults, $20
seniors, $14 youth) can be purchased in advance by calling the Box Office at 972-690-5029. OLIVER is sure to be a family favor-
ite! Show Sponsor: Neiman Marcus Foundation.

Oliver! is one of the most beloved British musicals, vividly bringing to life Dickens' timeless characters with its ever-popular story of
the boy who asked for more. The cast will include newcomer to the REP stage, Steve Miller, in the coveted role of Fagin alongside
REP favorites, Gary Anderson as Bill Sikes and Laura Alley as Nancy.

“The REP takes their shows very seriously but doesn’t miss out on the fun….I think that’s a great mix” says Miller, who auditioned
for the first time this past January. “Playing Fagin is quite an honor for me. He’s a scoundrel with a heart not quite rotten enough to
make him despicable. And this sort of fun combined with depth is a treat for any actor. Besides, you can’t go wrong with lines like:
Shut up and drink your gin!” Miller lives in Richardson and teaches Drama at the Covenant School in Dallas. He is married with two
  children.

  Shoes for Orphan Souls
Miss Saigon and Oliver! will support Shoes of Orphan Souls. Repertory Company Theatre is asking for NEW shoe donations dur-
ing June & July. "Since both of our summer productions deal with the struggles of young children, we decided to support Shoes for
Orphan Souls. Our goal is to obtain 100 shoes for the kids this summer...and we need your help”, explains artistic director, Debra
  Carter.

Repertory Company Theatre was established in 1986 as a non profit theatre with a REP Company. Each season the Theatre pre-
sents Broadway Musicals, Classic Plays and Special Presentations performed by our 55 member REP Company. In addition RCT

cowboy through his rodeo injuries. The unconven-
tional pair’s idyll is threatened by Big 8’s financial
woes (her ranch is about to be foreclosed on) but most of all by the invasion of a floozy (with a pretty
plastic hand) on the run from her Hell’s Angel biker pursuer. Add the return of Big 8’s prodigal son,
her unhelpful sister and gun violence to the mix, and this comedy breaks every code of the wild, wild
West. Directed by Terry Dobson, Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage features Collin Duwe, Emily

ing show! Now known for being some of the best and most
memorable music and lyrics in musical theatre’s history, the
show broke the mold when it opened in 1943 – a rural setting,
no splashy opening number, a unique integration of story and
song – nothing like it had ever been seen on Broadway.
There’s sassy Aunt Eller churning the butter while Curly lazily
welcomes the day singing “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,”
Laurey pouting over her two suitors during “Many a New Day,”
poor Jud and his pitiful but comical lament and the delightful
light-hearted trio of “I Can’t Say No” Ado Annie, Will Parker

                                What is Cooperative Arts News?

The Mission: The CAN organization was created for the purpose of helping cooperative member
arts organizations build audiences by supporting each other. CAN will send notifications to list
members with news of member
organizations' upcoming events and other arts news of interest.

The Rules:
1. Since this is a "cooperative" of arts organizations supporting each other, member groups who
would like to post notices, agree to "receive" notifications from other member groups in return.
Individuals will have the option at any time to "opt-out" if they choose not to receive future
notifications by e-mailing the list manager.
2. In order to preserve the integrity and quality of the postings to this list and to prevent any
unwanted "Spamming," all notifications that member groups want to send through this notification
list must come through the list manager. Groups simply send an e-mail notification to the list
manager with a descriptive write-up and it will be sent. If there are multiple notifications that
need to go out, they may be grouped together to reduce the number of e-mails that are sent to
   the list.

If at anytime, you would like to be removed from this e-mail list or if you are a new organization that
would like to join, please e-mail the list manager and your request will be acted upon in a timely
manner.

As always, thank-you for supporting the performing arts in the North Texas area!

Regards,

David Witherspoon
