MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to take this time to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank all of you for your support as President last year
and for trusting me enough to carry the torch again this year! What are you CRAZY??!! Just Kidding. The year 2006 was a
very good year for our Lodge. Although we say goodbye to Dave VanNice as our Treasurer of many years, I am grateful for
him managing the Lodges funds to get our building paid down to the point where it should be paid off this year! Jeff Sloan has a
tough road ahead to fill Dave’s shoes, but he is definitely the RIGHT person for the job! Ronnie Young was a big help with
handling the tough task of taking care of Bingo accounts. Tommy Kullman had his hands full trying to get out the membership
cards to our members due to the National Lodge changing over to a new system. He is still working diligently to overcome the
problems the State Lodge is having getting the cards printed. Our worthy Chaplain Mike Rushack sent cards of support to our
members in need and was the chairperson of Shop With a Cop. 2nd VP Rick White handled our annual Crab Feast and it was
our best yet!!! Our State Director Bob Downing, took care of business at the state level with Marty Williams. Our Associate
Lodge headed up by Kathy Clifton, did a great job supporting the main Lodge with all of its endeavors. The trustees stepped up
when needed as did numerous volunteers whenever we hosted an event. THANKS Krash and Nancy!! I would also like to
welcome aboard our new Secretary Jim O’Sullivan from the Sheriff’s Office.
MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT CONT…
So now in 2007 I ask you, what did YOU do for your Lodge last year?? As I and several others go to Richmond this year to
once again fight for our retirement multiplier to be raised. (We are second to the last in the nation) YOU and your family
members can show support for the retirement bill by writing your delegate in support of it. Tell them our officers deserve a
better retirement. When there is an event at the Lodge, come out and support it! Come out to a meeting and share some
fellowship with our membership. Get a fellow officer to join! Check out our website at www.chesapeakefop.com . Your Lodge
officers are fighting for YOU! Help us help you! We look forward to seeing YOU in 2007!! Lets be Safe out there!!!

Fraternally,
Jack Bider
President FOP #9

RALLY DAY IN RICHMOND

Representatives of Lodge #9 and the Public Safety Alliance traveled to Richmond for Rally Day on January 24th. Our
members went to numerous pre-scheduled meetings with Delegates and Senators over a two day period. We expressed
our concerns with being second to last in the country with a 1.7% retirement multiplier. We politely informed our
elected officials that we will be supporting the Legislators in the upcoming elections that support Public Safety
employees. Our Lodge received the FOP State Lodge Rally Day Attendance Trophy for having the most members in
attendance for Rally Day. We will proudly display our trophy in our Lodge over the next year.
PUBLIC SAFETY ALLIANCE MASS MEETING
The Public Safety Alliance meeting was held on January 31, 2007 at the Greenbrier Middle School Auditorium. A Step
Pay Plan was presented by Greg Staylor for all city employees. The PSA Board scheduled a meeting for the following
