Looking for a challenge?
The Colleton School Association is looking for a new committee Chair or two people for a
Ali Oliver, the previous Chair, has stepped down after two very successful years in the role and
we are looking for someone to replace her.
The main skills you need are leadership, diplomacy and co-ordination. You would be joining an
enthusiastic and experienced committee of eight people who all have allocated fundraising
tasks. A sub-committee has already been formed to oversee and co-ordinate the Summer Fair
and you will be well supported by the Secretary and Treasurer.
The main tasks of the Chair's role are:
To arrange committee meetings at least once a term
To liaise with the school for newsletters / emails and new parent meetings
To fundraise for the school and liaise with the Head over fundraising wish lists at least
once a year
To oversee, plan and delegate roles to the committee members and bank of helpers as
required for the purposes of events/fundraising
To maintain good relationships with teaching staff and the Head
To create a good rapport within the local voluntary sector and business community
(e.g.: Little Acorns, our business sponsors)
To co-ordinate (or delegate the co-ordination of) the summer fair and Christmas Bazaar
To support the committee members in advertising events, arranging helpers, organising
floats etc for designated events e.g.: discos, film nights, cake sales, summer and
Christmas events, quiz nights
To create a happy and healthy environment for people to be creative with their ideas
and offers of help
To book event / alcohol licences and hold the key to the CSA shed!
Ali Oliver, the former Chair says, 'this role can be as much or as little as you would like to make
it. You are really the co-coordinator for all the CSA does. I see the role as making sure there
are good lines of communication not only to the committee but school, parents, helpers and
outside agencies too. If many people are on your side and support our aims, the more
successful the CSA will be! It’s not just about raising money, but getting the school community
together, parents, children and staff to have some fun, meet new people and improve the
school environment all round.'
If you are interested in the position, or would like to the join the committee or just come along
to one of our meetings, please contact Stef Abrar, Secretary for further information on
email@example.com or any of the CSA committee members. Thank you.

I am an FA Level 1 Coach and currently manage Twyford Comets boys under 8 football with a
colleague. My daughter, who used to play in a mixed Comets under 9 team, is desperate for
me to get a girls team up and running. I'm looking to get a team of Year 3, 4 and 5 up and
running if there's enough interest, and am also interested in hearing if any parents want to get
involved and help coach; Comets will usually pay for any training required, and it's lots of fun
seeing the kids enjoy themselves and develop into a team.
If your child is interested please e-mail me at email@example.com.
