POSITION TITLE: Medical Billing and QA Specialist
REPORT TO: System Analyst
I. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Medical Billing and QA Specialist, under the supervision of the System Analyst, is
tasked with billing Medi-cal, Medicare, and other private health insurance agencies, and
all associated tasks including daily follow-up to ensure revenue. The Medical Billing and
QA Specialist is responsible for maintaining client information in county databases, and
in agency client logs, also ensuring client insurance eligibility is maintained. Additionally
the Medical Billing and QA Specialist is to support the programs by filing, preparing for
audits, staffing meetings, supporting reception as needed, and other projects and duties
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
A. Bill all health insurance agencies either though county systems or through our
contracted medical billing agency and all associated tasks
B. Enter consumer data into the Medi-Cal billing system and BACS agency logs in a
timely and accurate fashion.
C. Ensure quality control of all data entered.
D. Perform office administrative tasks in support of billing, including but not limited
to the maintenance of files, review of reports, follow-up on billing inquiries and
special projects as assigned.
E. Obtain and submit copies of individual staff logs to Alameda County for the
Agency’s Case Management Program.
F. Follow agency and county procedures to assure Agency compliance.
G. Provide general office support to staff and back up support for reception in BACS
Administrative offices, as needed.
H. Attend and or staff all meetings as required.
I. Other duties as assigned.
College or vocational school preferred and minimum four years of experience with
medical billing. Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of MS Office Programs.
IV. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION (preferred)
A valid California Driver's License, proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage, and a
driving record acceptable by the Agency's insurance company.
V. CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Hourly. Part time at 22.5 hours or three days/week.
VI. COMPENSATION: Wage: Commensurate with background and experience. Benefits
include partially paid medical insurance; fully paid dental, vision and life insurance. 10
days vacation, 12 days sick leave, 2.5 personal days, 10 holidays: paid time off pro-rated
based on scheduled hours. Optional voluntary 403(b) retirement plan.
