                                    MARCH 5 – 16, 2008
                              Revised Itinerary – February 14, 2008


     Don’t forget to put the teal coloured luggage strap on your checked piece of luggage
    and don’t forget to pack soap and towel for the youth hostel

Day 1 – Wednesday March 5 Dartmouth to Boston
  7:00      - Band Room is open for those students who need to get instruments, equipment
  7:15am    - All trip participants are at the school.
  7:30am    - 2 – 56 passenger coaches from Acadian Bus Lines arrive at Dartmouth High
               for loading of luggage and equipment (DVD coaches)
  8:00am    - board coach and depart Dartmouth for Boston, MA
            - stops will be made en route for breaks and to purchase meals
 8:30pm     - estimated time of arrival at the Doubletree Boston Bayside to check in for an
               overnight stay
 10:00pm    - Curfew (in rooms)
 10:30pm    - Lights out

Day 2 – Thursday March 6 Boston to New York / flight day                                  D
 6:30am      - wake up call
 7:15am      - room checks
 7:30am-     - hotel check out and loading of the coaches
 8:00am      - board coaches and depart for New York
             - make a stop en route to purchase breakfast
 1:00pm      - arrive at JFK Airport and check in for your overseas flight (groups are
                required to check in for International flights 3 hours prior to scheduled
                departure time)
 4:10pm      - depart on Czech Airlines flight # 51 from New York – JFK Airport to Prague
             - inflight hot meal served

Day 3 – Friday March 7 Prague to Vienna                                                     B/D
             - breakfast served prior to landing
 6:20am      - morning arrival at Prague’s Ruzyne International Airport, clear customs and
                collect your luggage
 7:15am      - meet your locally hired coach from Bond for loading and depart Vienna
 12:30pm     - upon arrival in Vienna, you will walk to Karntner Strabe (pedestrian street)
                where you will have a chance to purchase lunch
 1:30pm      - this afternoon enjoy a visit to the House of Music – you will have a self-
                guided visit with audio-guides for the 3rd floor
             - spread out over several floors, visitors can feel, see and listen to music –
                because it is the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, you’ll have many
                opportunities to gain an insight into the world of Mozart
 3:00pm      - after your visit, walk to the coach pick up point and transfer to your
                accommodation
 3:30pm      - arrive at the Suitehotel Wein Messe to check in for a 3 night stay (hotel is
                located 10 minutes from the city centre)
 5:00pm      - board coach to transfer to your dinner location, coach will drop the group off
                and then you will have to walk the remainder of the way

 5:30pm      - group dinner at the Rosenburger Restaurant
 7:00pm      - conclude dinner and walk back to the coach and return to the hotel
             - retire early after a long trip
 8:00pm      - Curfew

Day 4 – Saturday March 8 Vienna                                                            B/D
  7:30am     - wake up call
  8:00am     - breakfast at your accommodation
  9:00am     - meet your guides at the hotel to depart on a coach & walking tour where you
                will view the grand buildings on the Ringstrasse, the magnificent Hofburg
                Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its soaring spire and Prince Eugene’s
                Belvedere Palace
12:00noon    - after your tour you will have free time to explore in chaperoned groups
  2:30pm     - group to meet coach at designated location and return to hotel to pick up
                equipment and performance attire
  3:30pm     - board coach and depart for Bad Tatzmannsdorf
  5:00pm     - arrive at Weinstadl for your group buffet dinner
  6:15pm     - transfer to the Cathedral Pfarrkirche
  6:30pm     - arrive at the church hall to change and have a rehearsal before your concert
  7:30pm     - evening performance by Dartmouth High School Concert Band
  8:30pm     - conclude performance and enjoy visiting with guests
  9:00pm     - load coach and return to your hotel
10:30pm      - arrive at the hotel for overnight accommodation
 11:00pm     - Curfew
 11:30pm     - Lights out

Day 5 – Sunday March 9 Vienna                                                              B/D
 7:00am      - wake up call
 7:30am      - breakfast at your accommodation
 8:30am      - board coach and depart the Hofburg Chapel
 9:15am      - mass is performed by the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle including the Vienna Boys’
                Choir (length of mass may vary)
10:15am      - after the service you will have free time in he centre to explore and purchase lunch
12:45pm      - everyone board the coach and depart for Schonbrunn Palace
 1:30pm      - arrive and unload the instruments to prepare for your performance
 2:00pm      - performance by Dartmouth High School Concert Band in front of the grand
                staircase facing the main courtyard at Schonbrunn Palace as part of the “Voices
                of the World Program” (outdoor performance – weather permitting)
 2:30pm      - conclude performance and reload the coach
 2:52pm      - Imperial Tour begins (Group A / Group B will start at 2:55pm) – a 40 minute audio
                tour of the former summer residence of the Imperial Family – you will see the Blue
                Staircase, the large Rosa Room, the Great Gallery, the Chinese Salon and the Coach
                Museum

Day 5 continued…
 4:15pm      - board coach and return to the hotel to quickly change for the evening
 5:30pm      - board coach and transfer to your dinner location, coach will drop the group off
                and then you will have to walk the remainder of the way
 6:00pm      - group dinner this evening at the Esterhaztkeller Restaurant – this
                restaurants ancient vaulted cellars have existed since 1683 and the composer
                Joseph Haydn sought inspiration for his music here
 7:30pm      - after dinner walk as a group to the Palais Auersperg
 7:50pm      - arrive at the hall and locate your seats for the concert
 8:15pm      - this evening attend a Mozart concert in one of Vienna’s finest concert halls
                with the Vienna Residence Orchestra, a Viennese chamber orchestra
             - the program consists of works from Mozart to John Strauss, played with 10 to
                40 musicians dressed in historical costumes
 9:45pm      - conclusion time of the concert, meet coach and return to your hotel
10:15pm      - arrive for overnight accommodation
10:45pm      - Curfew
11:15pm      - Lights out

Day 6 – Monday March 10 To Salzburg                                                         B/D
   7:00am   - wake up call. Re-pack your luggage. Straighten your rooms.
   8:00am   - breakfast at your accommodation
   8:45am   - room checks
   9:00am   - check out and loading of the coach
   9:30am   - board coach and depart for Salzburg with a mid-day stop at the magnificent
               Abbey of Melk, the finest example of Baroque architecture in Austria
 10:45am    - arrive for a 1 hour guided tour
12:00noon   - conclude visit and depart with a stop to purchase lunch
  3:00pm    - arrive into Salzburg at the Jugendgastehaus Salzburg Youth Hostel to
               check in for a 2 night stay (do not unload coach at this time – just receive
               room keys)
  3:30pm    - meet your step-on-guides for a walking tour to some of the Sound Of Music
               sights
  5:00pm    - conclude tour back at the hostel where you will check into your rooms and freshen
               up for dinner
  6:30pm    - dinner at your accommodation
  8:00pm    - return to the center with your guides to continue your walking tour of
               beautiful Salzburg, highlights of your walking tour will include such sights
               as The Fransciscan Church dating back to the 8th Century, the Abbey of St.
               Peter with its romantic cemetery and the medieval lane of Getreidegasse
               where Mozart was born
  9:30pm    - conclude the tour back at the hostel for overnight accommodation
  10:30pm   - Curfew
  11:00pm   - Lights out


Day 7 – Tuesday March 11 Salzburg                                                         B/D
 7:30am      - Wake up call
 8:00am      - breakfast at your accommodation

  9:00am     - walk to the center of Salzburg for free time to explore and shop
             - purchase lunch during free time
12:00noon    - board your coach back at the hostel and depart for Berchtesgaden, Germany
               for a visit to Salzbergwerk Salt Mine
  1:00pm     - arrive and purchase tickets and dress for your tour
  1:25pm     - guided tour of the fascinating world of salt – you will be taken deep into the
               mountain’s interior by mine train where your journey continues via downhill
               slides, past a salt grotto and across an underground salt lake before being
               whisked by tram back to the outside world
  2:30pm     - return to the hostel to then load equipment onto the coach so it is ready to
               depart for the evening concert right after dinner
  3:45pm     - walk as a group from the hostel to the funicular, to ride up to the upper station to the
               fortress for a unique view of the city
  4:30pm     - candlelit dinner at the Fortress Restaurant
  6:00pm     - conclude dinner and meet coach at hostel for boarding to transfer to your
               performance location in Werfenweng (a holiday resort area located 50 km
               south of Salzburg)
  7:00pm     - arrive at the cultural center of Werfenweng – Festsaal Werfenweng to
               prepare for your performance
  7:30pm     - group performance by the Dartmouth High School Concert band
  8:30pm     - conclude performance and reload the coach following with time to socialize
  9:30pm     - reload the coach and depart for the hostel
10:30pm      - arrive for overnight accommodation. Pack your luggage for move tomorrow.
 11:00pm     - Curfew
 11:30pm     - Lights out.

Day 8 – Wednesday March 12 To Cesky Krumlov & Prague                                      B/D
 7:00am     - Wake up call. Have luggage ready. Straighten your room.
  8:00am    - breakfast at your accommodation
  8:45am    - room checks
  9:00am    - check out and loading of the coach
  9:30am    - board your coach to depart for Salzburg for Cesky Krumlov, one of the best
               preserved medieval towns in central Europe, almost entirely contained within
               a bend of the River Vltava, not far from its source in the Sumava region
12:00noon   - make a mid-day stop in Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO castle city where the
               movie “The Adventures of Pinnocchio” was filmed
            - there will be time to purchase lunch and to explore this storybook city with its
               picturesque streets and squares, little shops, art galleries and castle
 2:30pm     - board coach and continue journey to Prague
 6:30pm     - arrive at your hotel, Hotel Splendid to check in for a 3 night stay
 8:00pm     - group dinner at your accommodation
            - evening at leisure in the hotel
 10:30pm    - Curfew
 11:00pm    - Lights out

Day 9 – Thursday March 13 Prague                                                          B/D
   7:00am    - Wake up call
   8:00am    - breakfast at your accommodation

   9:00am    - meet your guides and coach at the hotel to depart on a tour within the walls
                 of the Prague Castle - past notable historic buildings such as St.Vitus
                 Cathedral, the Royal Palace and St. George’s Convent, the tour will then
                 continue to the Charles Bridge area to continue your tour
 11:30am     - tour will conclude with time to purchase lunch in the area and to explore
  2:30pm     - board coach and transfer to the Concert Hall of Saints Simon and Juda
  3:30pm     - rehearsal (suggest chaperones purchase snacks for the group during this time
                 as dinner will be late this evening)
  5:00pm     - performance by Dartmouth High School Concert Band
  6:00pm     - conclude performance
  6:45pm     - transfer to St. Agnes Convent. Pick up a snack.
  7:30pm     - String Quartet concert
  8:30pm     - concert concludes, reload coach and return to your hotel for a late dinner
  9:15pm     - group dinner at the hotel
  10:15pm    - Curfew
  10:45pm    - Lights out


Day 10 – Friday March 14 Prague                                                               B/D
  7:30am      - Wake up call
  8:00am      - breakfast at your accommodation
  9:00am      - meet coach and guides at the hotel to depart for a morning guided walking
                  tour of the ancient Jewish Quarter (Josefov) where Jews were segregated
                  as early as the 13th century. You’ll hear the fascinating story of Rabbi Löw
                  and discover why this is one of the best preserved Jewish towns in the world.
              - the tour will continue through Old Town (Stare Mesto) with its pristine
                  architecture including gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings and the popular
                  astronomical clock in Old Town Square.
 11:30am      - the remainder of the day is free for sightseeing and shopping in small,
                  chaperoned groups. Linger on Charles Bridge where street musicians, artists
                  and trinket sellers compete for attention, join the crowds for the hourly
                  mechanical performance of the astronomical clock located in Old Town
                  Square or enjoy a relaxing break at one of the many outdoor cafes.
  4:30pm      - meet as a group at the coach pick up location to transfer to your hotel where
                  you will have a chance to change for the evening
  6:30pm      - transfer to the “U Marcanu” for farewell dinner of traditional Czech food,
                  live music and folklore
  7:15pm      - arrive and locate your seats
  7:30pm      - dinner and show begins - enjoy your evening
10:00pm       - board coach and return to your accommodation
10:30pm       - arrive back at the hotel

 5:30am      - Wake up call. Last minute packing for airport. Straighten your rooms.
 6:15am      - room checks
 6:30am      - early breakfast at your accommodation
 7:00am      - load coach and transfer to Ruzyne International Airport
 8:00am      - arrive to check in for your scheduled flight to New York **groups are
                required 3 hours for check in for international flights
11:00am      - depart on Czech Airlines flight # 50 from Prague to New York
             - hot meal served inflight
 3:15pm      - scheduled arrival time into the New York – JFK Airport - gather your luggage, clear
                customs
 4:00pm      - meet your hired coaches from Acadian Bus Lines and depart for Boston
             - a stop will be made en route to purchase dinner
 9:30pm      - estimated time of arrival at Doubletree Boston Bayside Hotel for an overnight stay
10:30pm      - Curfew
11:00pm      - Lights out


Day 12 – Sunday March 16 Boston to Dartmouth
 7:00am      - Wake up call
 7:30am      - room checks
 8:00am      - hotel check out and loading of the coaches
             - purchase meals en route
 9:30pm      - estimated time of arrival at Dartmouth High School
