                                                    Program information and application form

This program will strengthen the leadership and partnership skills of both academic and professional staff. In
particular it supports the goal to achieve a critical mass of skilled leaders and managers at ANU who can coach and
enhance the development and performance of our talent at all levels. The program will be delivered by OneCoaching
in collaboration with Career Development Branch.

Program content
 When to coach and why
 How to use coaching to achieve organisational outcomes
 How to plan for and structure a coaching discussion
 Practical coaching techniques including questioning techniques, listening for learning and influence, awareness-
    increasing questioning, direct communication and messaging, giving and receiving feedback and facilitating
    learning and changed behaviour

Program objectives
Participants in this program learn how to:
 coach as leaders in formal ways
 be coach-like as leaders
 develop as a leader
 improve their ability to lead and manage
 advance their communication style and ability
 better understand ANU and its strategic and operational environments

Program components
 Individual itroductory phone meeting with program facilitator prior to first workshop
 2 x full day workshops – 3 and 17 August 2011
 4 x 1.5 hour group coaching sessions over a six week period (dates tbc)
 1 x 1-2 hour shadow coaching session

Program facilitator
Fleur Dwyer, Master Certified Coach (International Coaching Federation), Professional Mentor Coach, MEd.

The program is intended for Professional and Technical staff (ANU 08 and above), and Level C academics and
above, with responsibility for managing teams.

How to apply, and notes
 Individuals should apply on the attached form, which includes current Manager’s signature as endorsement.
 All candidates will be advised, via email, the outcome of their application, by Friday 22 July 2011.
 Unsuccessful nominees who are strong candidates will be considered as high-priority for following programs.
 The Manager as Coach Program represents a significant investment by the University and each participant. As
   such, it is anticipated that participants are able to commit to attend all sessions, to demonstrate an openness and
   willingness to fully participate in the program, and to practise the skills they learn during the program
