The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (2009) . . . . Andrew Boysen, Jr
It was the very witching time of night……
As Ichabod approached this fearful tree, he began to whistle
It was but a blast sweeping sharply though the dry branches
Suddenly he heard a groan…..
As he approached the stream his heart began to thump
At this moment a tramp….caught the ear of Ichabod
He… broke forth with involuntary fervor into a psalm tune
The shadowy object put itself in motion
Ichabod … now quickened his speed
Ichabod pulled up…thinking to lag behind….
He rained a shower of kicks… upon Gunpowder. Away ten they dashed.
He saw the walls of the church dimly….
He heard the black steed… close behind him…
Ichabod cast a look behind….
It encountered his cranium with a tremendous crash

The WCHS Music Department was recently notified that they are a Semi-finalist in the
GRAMMY IN THE SCHOOLS program. Only 120 schools nationwide are chosen for
the Semi-final round. At this stage, past concert programs, repertoire lists and recordings
of several of the WCHS performing ensembles will be sent into the Grammy organization
for their consideration. The five finalists will be chosen early in 2011.
WCHS ALUM Casey Doremus won Third Place in the Illinois Music Educators
Association Composition Contest in the area of Large Instrumental Ensembles for his
