  interface of police and mental health services

August 14th Announcement
• AHS will not pursue the redevelopment of Alberta
  Hospital Edmonton
• AHE will assess which of it’s services can be delivered
  in a community-based settings or in other appropriate
  environments
• No beds or patients will move without adequate
  community supports
• Services that can only be delivered in a hospital
  environment will continue to be delivered there

• Capacity at general hospitals for more acute mental
  health beds
• Continuing to investigate additional community-based
  options
• Community consultation/education is assured
