                                  SENATE RESOLUTION


        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
recognize Linnie D. Hudgins of Angleton, Texas, as an outstanding
citizen of our state; and

       WHEREAS, Born in Sublette, Illinois, on June 9, 1906,
Mrs. Hudgins moved to Angleton at the age of 18 months and attended
Angleton schools; she later moved to Freeport but returned to
Angleton in 1970 with her husband, William Wesley Hudgins; and

        WHEREAS, A woman of many talents, Linnie Hudgins was an
employee of Freeport National Bank during the 1930s and 1940s, a
partner with Bertha Salmans in the Freeport Flower Shop in the
late 1940s, and a bookkeeper for the Brazosport Independent School
District in the lunchroom division until her retirement in 1969; and

       WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader, she has
served for many years as treasurer of the Brazoria County Historical
Commission and worked for 20 years as a volunteer at the
Angleton-Danbury Hospital Auxiliary; and

        WHEREAS, At the Angleton-Danbury Hospital, she is well
known for her years of co-chairing the monthly blood drives and for
heading the group that crochets caps for the hospital's newborn
babies; and

       WHEREAS, Mrs. Hudgins' concern for others is legendary, and
she has played a major role in the betterment of the Freeport and
Angleton communities; and

        WHEREAS, A distinguished and exemplary lady, Linnie Hudgins
has been a source of strength to many, and her worthy projects and
accomplishments reflect her dedication to her fellowman; now,
therefore, be it

         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
73rd Legislature, hereby commend Linnie D. Hudgins on her exceptional
leadership as a volunteer and her countless hours of hard work; and,
be it further

        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
