Quidway S8500 is based on a high performance platform. Catalyst
is not. It costs much more to get a real high performance.
    Shared bus fabric: only 15Mpps
    


    CEF256: 30Mpps( Centralized address lookup, distributed forwarding )
    


    Classic and CEF256 is low efficient.
    


    Upgrade from old architecture cost more

    Supervisor Engine 720 alone will not take you high performance
