Theme Descriptions 2011-2012 (Participation Earns Theme Points!!) Sept. 18 – First Night of Club. Welcome Back or Welcome Newcomers!!!! The “basics” of Awana will be covered tonight Sept. 25 – BARF BARF Night. Be A Real Friend & Bring A Real Friend to club with you. Earn double visitor points! Oct. 2 – M & M Night – Missionary Moment with various M&M snacks throughout the night. Our own Awana Missionary, “Awana Bob”, will be joining us to share about his work in the Awana Ministry. The “Life Saver Room” will also open tonight. Oct. 9 – Mohawk Valley Fall Sports Night – wear your school team uniform or a jersey/shirt from your favorite sports team. T & T’ers will learn about Bible Quizzing that will be held in Jan. or Feb. through a fun “mock” bible quiz for leaders! Oct. 16 – Utica Rescue Mission Night – bring any donation(s) of white tube socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, washcloths, deodorant, bar soap and/or hair combs for this special ministry. Learn the significance of the Rescue Mission through a special presentation by Rev. Bill Dodge. Oct. 23 – Pit Stop - Grand Prix race cars will be available for purchase. This will be our first race car work night. Oct. 30 –Crock –N- Candy Comedy Parent Night. This is a special night open to all parents to bring a crockpot (or hot dish) to pass and enjoy an evening of entertainment with Ventriloquist Bill Salisbury. In addition, everyone brings a large bag of candy and takes home an even larger bag of candy! Earn double attendance points tonight! Nov. 6 – Race Car Night. Wear race car themed apparel or bring in old Grand Prix or Hot Wheel cars. Last race car work night. Nov. 13 – Grand Prix: On Your Mark! Get Set! Go!!! Clubbers will race their cars in an exciting race for all to see! Great food will be available throughout the night and a special guest speaker will challenge all of us in our mid-race event. Nov. 20 – Thankful Thoughts. Come prepared to share in club what you are most thankful for with a poster or a written paragraph. Nov. 27 - *NO CLUB TONIGHT* Happy Thanksgiving! Dec. 4 – Caring Card Night. Clubbers will make “special” Christmas Cards with special guest, Mrs. Maggie German. Dec. 11 – Christmas Caroling Night (T&T ONLY) Cubbies & Sparks will stay at the Academy for some special fun! Parents are welcome to participate in caroling!!! After caroling, we will return to the Academy to gather with the DE Youth Group and adults for a quiet evening of reflection of the true meaning of the season through song and leader testimonies. We will also enjoy Christmas cookies & “real” hot chocolate! Dec. 18 – *NO CLUB TONIGHT* Instead, please join us at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist on Albany St. for the youth Christmas Program! Dec. 25 - *NO CLUB TONIGHT* Merry Christmas! Jan. 1 - *NO CLUB TONIGHT* Happy New Year! Jan. 8 – Half-Way Night! Tonight marks the ½ way point of our Awana year. If you finished ½ of your handbook, you can pie the Commander next week. T & T’ers finishing ½ of their handbooks will now qualify to participate in Bible Quizzing! Jan. 15 – Pie the Commander! Anyone who has finished ½ of their handbook will get to throw a pie at the Commander! Jan. 22 – BARF BARF Night. Be A Real Friend & Bring A Real Friend to club with you. Earn double visitor points! Jan. 29 – Pajamas & Slippers Night. Wear your favorite pajamas and slippers to club! Feb. 5 – “Soup”er Bowl Night. Bring any canned good(s) to club and place in your favorite Superbowl team’s box. Feb. 12 – Snow Fest at the Winklers! Note time change: 1:00-4:00 p.m. Come enjoy eating, sledding & tubing! (Weather & snow permitting!) Wear your uniform to school this coming week and share Awana with your friends!!! Be sure to pick up a signature sheet to bring back next week! Feb. 19 – Wear Your Uniform to School. Did you wear your uniform to school this past week? If so, don’t forget to bring your signed sheet to club with you for extra points! Feb. 26 – Leader Appreciation Night: What did or have you appreciated about your leader(s) this year? Make or bring anything to club letting them know and showing your appreciation for them. Mar. 4 – Smores Night. Bring your sleeping bag for a “handbook campout” and some fun camping games, as well as enjoying your favorite camping treat – smores! Mar. 11 – 5 Verse Night: Come prepared to recite five NEW verses tonight and receive double handbook points! Mar. 18 – Make Your Own “Sundae”/Parent Night. Bring mom & dad for bonus points! Come prepared to enjoy the best ice cream sundaes you’ve ever had with tons of toppings! Mar. 25 – Silver & Gold Night – come to the “Olympic games” wearing your best silver and/or gold as we celebrate those clubbers who have made it to the silver and/or gold sections in their handbooks! Any clubbers in those sections will enjoy special recognition at closing tonight! Any Sparks who are in the Extra Credit Card books will also receive special recognition. Apr. 1 – Fool Your Leaders Night – time for YOU to test your leaders! Leaders will be given five verses to memorize. You can ask them throughout the night to recite them; if they get stumped, they give you a treat! Apr. 8 - *NO CLUB TONIGHT* - Happy Resurrection Day! Apr. 15 – Finish Strong Tonight! Do your best tonight to get all the points you can for your team so you can pie the losers next week!!! What was your favorite theme night this year?
