RULES & INFORMATION
A NOVICE RIDER or NOVICE HORSE/PONY is one that has not previously won first place in a similar event at
any Agricultural or Breed Show, or any Open Gymkhana (Pony Club Gymkhana wins do not count).
HELMETS/HARD HATS (Australian Approved standard) and HEELED BOOTS must be worn in all riding events.
Riders are to understand that their EFA or Dilutes Australia Ltd Members Insurance may be rendered void in the
event of an accident/injury, wherever it may occur, if found to have not been using an approved helmet. Helmets
marked as follows are approved for use: AS/NZS 3838:1998 (Australian and New Zealand Standard), EN 1384
(Current European Standard) and ASTN F1163 (Current US Standard). Potential competitors will NOT be
allowed to ride if not wearing an approved helmet – checks will be undertaken on the day.
Dress rules - presentable, safe and appropriate for the ring in which you compete. Pony Club uniform
acceptable. Safety first! An appropriate standard of saddlery/tack should also be displayed according to the ring
in which you compete e.g. bright colours, plastic bridlewear etc are not acceptable in open rings or for best
presented classes but fine for beginners/novice ring so long as they are safe.
ALL competitors (i.e. people going into the ring, whether leading, assisting or riding) MUST complete a
RELEASE AND WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY FORM. Copies of this form will be available at the Ticket
Sales Office on the day. A $20.00 COMPULSORY INSURANCE COVER COLLECTED ON BEHALF OF THE
EFA FOR PUBLIC LIABILITY COVER (EXCLUDES PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE) IS PAYABLE BY
ANY COMPETITOR WHO IS NOT A MEMBER OF AN AON INSURED CLUB (A LIST OF CLUBS COVERED
BY AON IS AVAILABLE ON THE EFA’S NATIONAL WEBSITE & ON THE DAY AT THE ENTRY DESK).

EXCEPTIONS.

The committee also reserves the right to refuse or accept any entry without assigning a reason.
All horses markings and brands must match their registration papers. The committee reserves the right to ask for
the presentation of registration papers.
ALL RIDDEN BREED EXHIBITS MUST BE THREE YEARS OF AGE OR OVER.
All breed classes will be run according to the rules and regulations of their society. It is the responsibility of the
exhibitor to be aware of their rules and regulations prior to entry.
No dogs on the grounds.
Beginners Ring Rules and Information
Entrants in this ring may NOT compete in Open Events in the Open Rings. COMPETITORS IN OPEN EVENTS
CAN ONLY COMPETE IN OPEN RINGS, LEAVE THE BEGINNERS RING TO THE TRUE BEGINNERS
PLEASE!
New mounts (novice mounts) are encouraged to start competing and accept ring procedures.
Competitors in the Beginners classes should not have won a first place in any class (with more than one entrant)
at any Gymkhana (excluding Pony Club Gymkhanas) or Breed or Agricultural Show in recent years. However, if
regaining confidence is the big problem, then previously placed riders may compete. Timid riders welcome!!
Riders may be accompanied by an adult and/or capable assistant when competing in any classes in this ring.
There is no age or size restriction on competitors leading or riding ponies or horses, though the combination of
competitor & horse should be a safe combination (i.e. no tiny kids leading or riding big horses please).
Novice ponies/horses (if newly broken-in, or just started under saddle) should be ridden by experienced riders - it
is preferable not to have a Novice pony/horse ridden by a Novice rider.
The same mount may be used by more than one rider/handler in this ring.
ABN: 17 081 316 994
Ring Etiquette will be advised and encouraged. Please ask if unsure of “procedures”.
