A river boat can travel 8 mph in still water.
There is a current of 6 mph. What is the
boat’s final speed as he attempts to head
         straight across the river?

      Components of Vectors
• Turn the vector into a right triangle (Use
SOH CAH TOA to find numerical values.)
• X-direction = horizontal component
• Y-direction = vertical component

           Question #1
• A boy on a tower 5 meters high
  throws a ball horizontally 20
meters. At what speed is the ball
  thrown?
            Question #2
• A car rolls off a 45 meter high cliff
traveling at 25 m/s. How far does
he travel from the base of the
  cliff?
