Scouts have the opportunity to sign up for a variety of merit badge clinics that will take place

complete them at the clinic. Here are the subjects offered and the details regarding the clinics.
All clinics take place on Saturdays. Scouts should be in uniform. A blue merit badge card is
required for each clinic. You can check out the requirements for any merit badge by going to

                                     Safe Halloween
Once again our Troop will be involved in the annual Safe Halloween program run at Indian
Mound Scout Camp. This event is geared towards Cub Scouts and their family members. Our
Scouts convert the Fun Lodge Cabin into a haunted building for the event that is held on
Saturday, October 18. About 1200 Cub Scouts and family members will participate in the
program. Our troop will depart for this event on Friday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. and return on
Sunday afternoon. We will be staying in a cabin while at camp and meals will be provided in the
dining hall. Cost is only $12.00 for the event.

Set Up – On Saturday, October 11 we will go out to camp for the day to set up for the Safe
Halloween program. We will leave Mt. Hope at 8:30 a.m. and return at around 5:00 p.m. Cost is
only $3.00 which will cover a portion of the lunch cost. Parents who can help are encouraged to
join us for the day.

Permission slips for both of these activities are included with this newsletter.

Pick ‘N Save We Care Program
You can help the Troop in a very painless way by registering in the “We Care” program offered
by Pick ‘N Save. All you need to do is apply for an Advantage Saver’s club card and request that
Mt. Hope Troop 580 is the beneficiary. Our organization number is 06880. If you already have
an Advantage Card you can add the Troop as a beneficiary. You can have up to three nonprofit
organizations listed. Every time you use the card you save money and the Troop receives a
percent of your total bill from Pick ‘N Save. Please take the time to register.

                       Eagle Cave – January 17 – 18, 2009
Our Troop has a reservation to camp in Eagle Cave on the 17th of January. Yes we will be
camping in a cave. Early registration is required for this event because Eagle Cave requires the
fee up front. The reservation is for 20 people so this will be first come and first serve. There will
be no refunds for this event so make sure you are available before signing up. We will leave
from Mt. Hope on Saturday, January 17 at 8:00 a.m. and return late Sunday morning.

Cost is $45.00. Use the permission slip in this newsletter.
                      Popcorn, Kringle, and Wreath Sale
The Troop’s annual fund raising drive kicks off officially at the Court of Honor. Wreath and
kringle sales can begin at once. The popcorn sale begins on September 26. All sales sheets will
be due no later than the troop meeting on October 28. NO EXCEPTIONS

Payment for the sales is due at the time of pickup on Saturday, November 22 at the Loosens
between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The first $100.00 in profit in the kringle and/or wreath sale is split 50/50 between the Scout’s
