The club is pleased to announce that Danny Millar has been appointed as the Senior Football Coach for
the 2009 season along with Assistant Senior Football Coach Rob Mayo,

Danny is an accredited and experienced coach with a decorated playing history. The majority of his playing
career was with the Morwell Football Club where he notched up 149 senior games, was awarded Best and
Fairest four times (1999, 2001-2003), played in two premierships (1993 & 1996) and in 2005 was selected
as a member of the Morwell Football Club “Team of the Century”.

A Gippsland Latrobe Football League Representative from 1998-2004, Danny was appointed as the Senior
Football Coach at Morwell East Football Club in 2004 and continued through to the 2005 season where he
coached the seniors to a premiership and was later awarded “Gippsland Coach of the Year”.

Danny’s football career commenced in 1990 when he was drafted to the North Melbourne Football Club, at
number 18 in the National Draft, and in 1991 he played in the U19’s AFL Premiership under coach Denis
Pagan. In 1994 he notched up another premiership with the Northcote Football Club in Diamond Valley
League before returning to Gippsland.

In 2000, Danny captained the Gippsland Latrobe Football League team in the Country Championships
achieving runner up in Division 1. In the same year, he was also selected as a VCFL Representative in the
National Championships, winning the Division 1 premiership.

Last year Danny was the Assistant Coach for the Gippsland Power U18's team alongside coach Adrien

Danny’s aim for the Thorpdale Football & Netball Club’s 2009 season is to:
1) Gain the player’s respect
2) Get the players to take ownership (individual & team performances & destiny)
3) Instill a level of professionalism & commitment for all to aspire to
4) Be open & honest with individuals & the team when appraising performance

Rob has a level 1 national coaching accreditation with previous coaching experience including Assistant
Coach at Yallourn North in 1995 and reserves coach at Yinnar from 1996 to 1998, coaching the 1998 team
to a premiership.

Like Danny, the majority of Rob’s football career has also been with the Morwell Football Club however, he
did play in a season in the Fourths for Thorpdale in 1979 during the club’s partnership with the Morwell St
Vincents Fourths team, making the finals that year. In more recent times, Rob played in two premiership
teams at Morwell FC and Yinnar FC.

Rob will be a non-playing Assistant Coach for Thorpy and with a history of more than 18 years playing
football he is well equipped for the role. His aspirations for the club’s 2009 season is initially just to get
everyone on and off the field to aim high and instil a positive attitude; and then to push hard and achieve
finals footy.

The club welcomed Danny and Rob with a “Meet the Coaches” day held on Sunday 12 October. Those that
attended had no option but to feel the positive energy for next season. Bring on Season 2009!

A reminder that the club will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 6 November.
