THE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS
Zechariah 10:1; 1 Kings 18:1,41-46
A little dew in the heat of the harvest brings some respite and refreshing (Isaiah 18:4). How much more
showers of rain. When mercy drops around us begin to fall, it is time double our effort and plead for the
showers of rain to descend. It is time to ask of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain. God is waiting for
us to ask. His response to our prayers is promised to be very prompt (Isaiah 65:24).
Every one of us have been enjoying some sprinklings but God is challenging us to ask Him for torrential rain
of blessings at this time of the latter rain. Will you ask? Are you prepared to pray?
HUMAN COMMITMENT TO PRAYING
Zechariah 10:1; James 4:2; John 16:23,24; Jeremiah 33:3; Psalm 50:15; Ezekiel 36:37; 1 Kings 18:1,41-46.
“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain” (Zechariah 10:1). Scriptural revelation is that it is
our responsibility to pray. When mercy drops begin to fall, we need to pray and plead for the showers of
blessings. We need to ask of the Lord copious, abundant rain in the time of the latter rain.
This scripture establishes beyond any reasonable doubt the necessity of human commitment to praying for
any significant breakthrough to blessing to take place. God will respond to the prayer of His saints. It is
difficult for God to answer unprayed prayers. We need to be at the place of prayer and unburden our hearts
We have not because we ask not is the testimony of scriptures (James 4:2). Possibly we have not been
praying before. However God is inviting us to pray that our joy may be full (John 16:23,24; Jeremiah 33:3;
At the time of Ezekiel, God promised to change Israel’s circumstances for the better. However all was still
subject to them praying (Ezekiel 36:37).
God wanted to send rain upon Israel. However Elijah still had the responsibility to pray (1 Kings 18:1,41-
HEAVEN’S CLOUD OF PROVISION
Zechariah 10:1; Luke 12:54; Ecclesiastes 11:3; 12:2; Proverbs 16:15; 3:20; Psalm 77:17; Job 36:27,28; 26:8;
Judges 5:4; Ezekiel 1:28.
“so the Lord shall make bright clouds” (Zechariah 10:1). In response to our prayer, God will set things in
motion. He will make bright clouds for our benefit. This is heaven’s cloud of provision.
Clouds precede rain and they are indicators of possible coming rain (Luke 12:54; Ecclesiastes 11:3; 12:2;
Proverbs 16:15; 3:20; Psalm 77:17; Job 36:27,28; 26:8; Judges 5:4; Ezekiel 1:28). When God begins to
make bright clouds, it is time to celebrate because heaven’s blessing and provision are coming your way.
Today is your day of blessing. The showers of blessings are coming your way.
HOLLOW CLOUD IS PERILOUS
Zechariah 10:1; Jude 12; Proverbs 25:14; 1 Kings 14:26-28; 2 Chronicles 12:9-11; Matthew 21:18-21;
13:24-30,36-44; Mark 11:12-14,20,21; Luke 13:6-9.
“and give them showers of rain” (Zechariah 10:1). Occasionally we can have deceptive clouds. We expect
rain but there is none because the cloud had no substance to deliver – it is empty and hollow (Jude 12;
Proverbs 25:14; 1 Kings 14:26-28; 2 Chronicles 12:9-11; Matthew 21:18-21; 13:24-30,36-44; Mark 11:12-
14,20,21; Luke 13:6-9).
We must not be satisfied with just bright clouds. We must press on in the place of prayer until God has put
precious substance within the cloud. As He makes bright clouds, He will give them showers of rain.
HEAVEN’S COMPREHENSIVE PROVISION
Zechariah 10:1; Matthew 7:7-11; James 1:5-8,17; John 16:23,24; Ephesians 3:20; 1 Timothy 6:17; Luke
“to EVERY one grass in the field” (Zechariah 10:1). God’s provision is always copious, conclusive and
comprehensive. No one is left out. The provision reaches EVERY ONE.
God never discriminates. If we pray aright and come on the right and appropriate platform, EVERY ONE
that asks receives, EVERYONE that seeks finds and EVERYONE that knocks experiences open doors
SHOWERS OF BLESSING
1. "There shall be showers of blessing:" 3. "There shall be showers of blessing:"
This is the promise of love; Send them upon us O Lord!
There shall be seasons refreshing, Grant to us now a refreshing;
Sent from the Saviour above. Come, and now honour Thy Word.
Showers of blessing, 4. "There shall be showers of blessing;"
Showers of blessing we need; Oh, that today they might fall,
Mercy drops round us are falling, Now as to God we're confessing,
But for the showers we plead. Now as on Jesus we call.
2. "There shall be showers of blessing:" - 5. "There shall be showers of blessing,"
Precious reviving again; If we but trust and obey;
Over the hills and the valleys, There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sound of abundance of rain. If we let God have His way.
