Born Trizah (pronounced tri-zay) Morris in May of 1974 she uses the pen name T. Smith. This author experienced life by learning from a host of distinctive individuals including pimps, shoplifters, prostitutes, drug dealers, social workers, doctors, counselors, and preachers. Trizah was born to parents that weren’t pleased about her arrival and didn’t know what to do with her when she got here. Despite her humble beginnings, Trizah became the loving mother of five. For 15 years she dedicated her life to raising intelligent, respectful, and well-mannered children. Sacrificing her own needs and putting her dreams on hold, she made sure that her children didn’t grow up experiencing the loneliness and abandonment that she endured as a child. As a teenager she criss-crossed the country surviving the L.A. Riots, Hurricane Iniki, and the Northridge Earthquake making her believe that she had to be here for a purpose. Her true calling would later be revealed to her, but first she would be put through a test. At age 25, Trizah found herself pregnant with her fourth child, homeless, and living in her car on the streets of South Central Los Angeles. Her perseverance was tested when she and her children had to bathe in public restrooms. Her imagination came into play when she told her children that the park was their classroom as she taught them to add and subtract by counting birds on a wire. Her faith and courage shined through when she decided to trust someone, tell them about her situation, and accept the help that would change her life. Having labor pains while living in her car had her thinking that death was around the corner and prompted her to write a note to be left for whom ever found her body should she die. That note became her journal and that journal became T. Smith’s debut novel, Miracles of My Mistakes. Upon completion of her novel the calling she had on her life finally called her. She realized that although she made it through the storm there were still hundreds, even thousands of homeless mothers struggling to take care of their families. So she decided to revisit those shelters and homeless programs that had been a blessing to her and become a blessing to others. Trizah received her GED from IVY Tech in March 1998 and completed a writing course at Santa Monica College in 2005. Trizah is a mother, speaker, motivator, and survivor. As an author she has contributed a body of literature that showcases the struggle of motherhood in raw form. Her experiences penetrate your soul. Transforming words on a page to emotions in your heart. Trizah is inspired by writers like Ntozake Shange and Robert Beck. With realistic and uncut passages, she writes with ambition driven by overcoming obstacles. She has been dubbed by some of her readers as a female Donald Goines. Her emotion provoked writing style inspires readers to take a look at their own lives and turn their mistakes into miracles.
