BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED

Release 7/18/08 from Town of Taos Police Department BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED “On July 15th, 2008, just before 10 a.m., Taos police Department received a call for a bank robbery in progress. The First Community Bank located at Paseo del Pueblo Sur (Highway 68) and Old Talpa Canyon Rd. was robbed by a male subject wearing dark color clothing, his face covered by a mask. The suspect brandished a firearm during the commission of the Roberry. The suspect left on foot in a southerly direction, dropping his backpack which contained stolen money, and then fled the area in a 1990s model gray Toyota pickup truck. Taos Police intercepted this vehicle a few blocks from the scene, at which time they pursued the suspect into the Taos Canyon area. After the vehicle was lost in the Canyon, a multi-agency search was launched, led by New Mexico State Police. The investigation was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In the afternoon hours of July 16, 2008, the suspect was arrested at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The suspect was identified as Taylor Matthew Hatton, 23, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Subsequent to his arrest, Hatton’s vehicle, a gray Toyota pickup truck, was located, abandoned, in the Taos Canyon area. Taylor Matthew Hatton has been charged, in Federal Court, with Bank Robbery.
