                                          Be Nobody’s Valentine

Each year on February 14th countless millions of people celebrate a day known as “St. Valentine‟s Day.”
Millions of heart-shaped cards and boxes of chocolates are given as gifts, and even churches have
Valentine parties on this so-called “Day of Love.” In schools, from pre-school and kindergarten on up,
children draw names from a box and exchange heart-shapes notes which “pair off” the children and is
said to be “all in fun.” People of all ages get into the act, and the words that are heard everywhere on that
day are, “Be My Valentine.”

The sad fact is that most people never question the origin of the customs that they involve themselves
with. Most people do not ask questions but do what everybody else does, never stopping to consider how
the Almighty G-d of Heaven feels about their activities. When we consider that Valentine‟s Day is a day
of preoccupation with the heart, it is essential that we listen to the following words spoken by the
Almighty, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord
search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his wages, and according to the fruit
of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:9-10

Christians should be known by their discernment and should be asking questions regarding Valentine‟s
Day. What is the origin of this unusual day? Why is there a preoccupation with the color red? Where did
the heart shape come from, and what does it mean? These and other questions will now be answered, as
we examine the roots and pagan origin of this popular day.

In the days of the Roman Empire, the month of February was the last and shortest month of the year.
February originally had 30 days, but when Julius Caesar named the month of July after himself, he
decided to make that month longer and shortened February to 29 days while making July a month of 31
days. Later when Octavius Caesar, also known as Augustus, came to power, he named the month of
August after himself, and not be outdone he also subtracted a day from February and gave the month of
August 31 days. To this very day it remains that way. The ancient Romans believed that every month had
a spirit that gained in strength and reached its peak or apex of power in the middle or ides of the month.
This was usually the 15th day, and it was a day when witches and augurs, or soothsayers worked their
magic. An augur was a person filled with a spirit of divination, and from the word augur we get the word
“inaugurate”, which means to “take omens”. Since February had been robbed by Caesars and had only 28
days, the ides of February became the 14th day of that month. Since the Ides of a month was celebrated
on the preceding eve, the month of February was unique, because it was the 13th day that became the eve
of the Ides that month, and it became a very important pagan holiday in the Empire of Rome. The sacred
day of February 14th was called “Lupercalia” or “day of the wolf.” This was a day that was sacred to the
sexual frenzy of the goddess Juno. This day also honored the Roman gods, Lupercus and Faunus, as well
as the legendary twin brothers, who supposedly founded Rome, Remus and Romulus. These two are said
to have been suckled by wolves in a cave on Palatine Hill in Rome. The cave was called Lupercal and
was the center of the celebrating on the eve of Lupercalia or February 14th. On this day, Lupercalia,
which was later named Valentine‟s Day, the Luperci or priests of Lupercus dressed in goatskins for a
                                                      1
bloody ceremony. The priests of Lupercus, the wolf god, would sacrifice goats and a dog and then smear
themselves with blood. These priests, made red with sacrificial blood, would run around Palatine Hill in a
wild frenzy while carving a goatskin thong called a “februa.” Women would sit all around the hill, as the
bloody priests would strike them with the goatskin thongs to make them fertile. The young women would
then gather in the city and their names were put in boxes. These “love notes” were called “billets.” The
men of Rome would draw a billet, and the woman whose name was on it became his sexual lust partner
with whom he would fornicate until the next Lupercalia or February 14th.

Thus, February 14th became a day of unbridled sexual lust. The color “red” was sacred to that day
because of the blood and the “heart shape” that is popular to this day. The heart-shape was not a
representation of the human heart, which looks nothing like it. This shape represents the human female
matrix or opening to the chamber of sacred copulation.

When the Gnostic Catholic Church began to get a foothold in Rome around the 3rd century A.D., they
became known as Valentinians. The Catholic Valentinians retained the sexual license of the festival in
what they called “angels in a nuptial chamber”, which was also called the “sacrament of copulation.” This
was said to be an reenactment of the marriage of “Sophia and the Redeemer.” As the participants of the
February 14th ritual began their sexual sacrament, presided over and watched by the priests known as
Valentinians, the following literary was spoken: “Let the seed of light descend into thy bridal chamber,
receive the bridegroom… open thine arms to embrace him. Behold, grace has descended upon thee.”

As time went on, the Orthodox Church suppressed the Gnostic Catholics and manufactured “St.
Valentine”, whose day continues to be celebrated in these modern times.

It should be without saying that the Christians should avoid Valentine‟s Day like a plague. In G-d‟s eyes,
it is still “Lupercalia”, the “Day Of The Wolf.” Men become wolves, as they carry on the Satanic rituals
of fornication, which means sexual intercourse without marriage. We have heard of the “wolf whistle”,
and we all know that wolves do not whistle. It is lustful men and women, who carry on Satan‟s
blasphemy to this very day.

In conclusion, we must ask ourselves, “Should a true Christian be associated in any way with this
celebration of evil roots? Should we be doing what the heathen have done for so many years and try to
justify it as love?” Romans 12:2 answers this very well, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

The Origin of Cupid

The central figure of Valentine‟s Day is Cupid, the Roman god of love. He is called Eros in Greek
mythology. Myths describe Cupid as a handsome lad who united lovers whenever he could. Early images
show him as an athletic young man, but by the mid-300‟s B.C. he had evolved to a chubby naked infant
with wings, holding a bow and arrows. If one was shot by one of his arrows, he or she supposedly fell in
love.

The origin of Cupid and his prominence in pagan religion is discussed in Hislop‟s Two Babylons. He
mentions that the ancient poet Aristophanes declared “we are informed that he from whom both „mighty
ones‟ and gods derived their origin, was none other than the winged boy Cupid.” In a footnote Hislop
declares, “Aristophanes says that Eros or Cupid produced the „birds‟ and „gods‟ by „mingling all things.‟
This evidently points to the meaning of the name Bel, which signifies at once „the mingler‟ and „the
confounder. This name properly belonged to the father of Nimrod, but, as the son is represented as

                                                    2
identified with the father, we have evidence that the name descended to the son and others by inheritance”
(page 40).

Cupid occupied the very same position as Ninus the “son” did to Rhea, the mother of the gods. Nimrod
was the first of the “mighty ones” after the Flood, as we read in Genesis, “Cush became the father of
Nimrod; he was the first on earth to become a mighty warrior. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD”
(Genesis 10:8-9).

Thus Cupid, the god of love, was none other than the infant NIMROD, the one who taught rebellion
against the LORD, Yahveh, after the Flood – the one who led the revolt against God‟s laws, and who
attempted to build the tower of Babel, to strike against heaven and the heavenly host! Cupid is pictured as
a child hunter, with bow and arrows, and grew up to be “the mighty hunter before [i.e. against] the
LORD.”

The Latin for word “Valentine” alludes to this major trait of Nimrod, the mighty hunter. The Latin word
for “Valentine” is “Valentinus,” a proper name derived from the word valens which means “to be strong.
It literally means, “strong, powerful, mighty.” Nimrod was, remember, the “MIGHTY hunter against the
Lord.” He was renown in the ancient world for his muscular strength skillful hunting and bowmanship,
and war-waging prowess.

The Moffatt Translation says, “Ethiopia produced Nimrod, the first man on earth to be a despot (he was a
mighty hunter before the Eternal; hence the proverb, „Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Eternal‟).
His empire at first was Babylon, Uruk, Akkad, and Kalneh, in the land of Shinar; from which he pushed
out into Assyria . . .” (Genesis 10:8-11).

Nimrod was not only physically powerful, and skillful at hunting game, including voracious leopards and
lions, but he was also a “hunter” of the souls of men, who strove to lead mankind into idolatry, and
worship of pagan gods, of whom he was considered the chief – a man who declared himself to be “God”
in the flesh.

Aristophanes says that the boy Cupid, a “winged one,” produced all the birds, “winged ones,” occupying
the very position of Ninus, the “son,” thus identifying him with Nimrod. “Ninus is Nimrod,” said the
ancient historian Appolodorus (Hislip. Page 40).

I think all these holidays is just what it's created for to get people involved in the marketering of
products... but I can see from the Spiritiual side that is not good either... So funny how the world has
transformed everything into a commercial sell-a-thon and how the churches are silent .... God must be
pretty impressed with all of this.... weren't we the church suppose look after this kind of thing - thank you
for sharing this truth - it's so easy to stray off into the ditches isn't it...

Yeah, it's true. But if it makes people who love each other treat each other special one day a year, there's
nothing wrong with that.(True it is another marketing tactic for greeting card companies, florists etc.) I
believe in the biggest Valentine of all: John 3:16. Many traditions and holidays have pagan origins. We
still celebrate them and use the Christian aspects of them nowadays. Preaching love, the beatitudes and I
Cor. 13 on Valentine's Day turns it into a beautiful celebration. I don't even give any thought to the pagan
ties.
God bless you. Thanks for the history!

Awesome blog! I just discovered this info from a friend a day or so age. I am so pleased that there are
some that are willing to search out the true meaning of a HOLIDAY and allow that information to be
passed on. We, as Christians, must take a hold of that information and embraace it to the fullest. The
WORD says to obstain from ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL. If a holiday is celebrated with the origin of
paganism then we cannot righteously celebrate it. I have had many on my page however tell me Happy
Valentine's Day and really do not know how to respond. My 2 cents!! Thanks for the wisdom! Love and
Peace ~1wing

Grace and shalom to you all, in the Name of Messiah Yeshua. Thanx for taking the time to read this very
important message, containing the facts about the origins of this pagan holiday. I agree with what many of
you said within comments, emails, and IMs, that we must be aware of the enemy's tactics, not being
ignorant of his devices, and abstain from all appearance of evil, for we are called to be holy and set apart
from the ways of this world. In case some misinterpreted, I didnt write this message, but simply copied
and pasted, due to not having time to write an article myself. This is why I provided the links to show the
sources. Once again, thank you all, and may we continue to be messengers of YHWH's glorious truth, and
by His light expose the hidden works of darkness. Amen? Be blest in Him. Goodnight, and shalom : ).

Yehonatan,
Thank You for providing such wonderful information about this day.
I have to be honest that I had no clue about any of this.
I never saw the heart in that light either...but then I never saw the heart as a true representation of love
either, when I know that true love comes from Corinthians Ch.13 and so on.

And I do know that many Christians are not loving that kind of love, nor do many consider it, compared
to what the world has influenced on them.
I know that fornication is wrong too, and I was once a fornicator myself until I repented, and recieved
God's mercy and grace as He cleansed me from that lifestyle.
Thank you for the words of awareness and wisdom. I don't clebrate any holiday as described above, but I
do know that I am glad I know this now. Thank You:-)

Does anything exist that doesn't have evil origins other than the creation itself? I think God looks on the
heart to see if as an individual you are evil in your action or deed ot intent. I gave my boyfriend a
                                                       5
Valentine and he gave me one too. We will probably do it again next year too. Unless of course he tries to
hit me with a bloody wolfskin thong. Then we are breaking up for sure.

Todah, Yehonatan! Of course, I referred everyone to my friend Hannah's blog which is her own testimony
concerning this day, along with the tract text from Last Trumpet Ministries. I appreciate you also posting
this, along with the history of Cupid. I see how so many Christians are so complacent about pleasing
YHWH - I believe they may be moreso into pleasing themselves and taking mercy and grace for granted.
I very much thank you for posting this, akhi. I plan to do a blog long before Easter - cuz I can't even stand
the sound of that word, especially coming out of Christians. I'd like to stem the tide of possible and
probable "Happy Easter" greetings and blogs. This may sound harsh, but I'd like to post my blog in
enough advance time as to prick the consciences of those who thought to post an Easter blog. Thanks
again, akhi. I really appreciate this. Ama

   * Yehon…
Shalom to you Sandy, "Shalom Yerusalem", and Kathy. Thanx for your responses. Sandy, there are many
things which have good origins. It's whenever something is blatantly pagan from it's beginnings, such as
this holiday, that we are called to avoid it and the customs. YHWH specifically says in Jeremiah 10:1-3,
that we should NOT learn the ways of the Gentile/heathen/pagans, nor practice their customs, for they are
futile. He wants us to be separate from the world's ways, and sancified, set apart, and holy unto Him, just
as He is holy. We're destined to stand out from amongst the corrupt system, not being one with it, and
appearing just as they do, doing the same things by "following the crowd", and succumbing to the status
quo.

Amen, "Shalom Yerusalem" : ). I look forward to your "Easter" blog, and also plan to do one of my own,
soon, in His timing and manner.

Kathy, that story about this martyr is a myth that was fabricated by the Roman Church in order to cover it
the true origins of this holiday. It is revised "history", to deceive the masses. This institution has been
lying and covering up for centuries, and there is plenty of evidence to substantiate this, which can be
found by thorough research.

YHWH bless ya'll in the name of Yeshua(Jesus). Shalom : ).

Its a funny thing about symbols and their origins. I was talkin to a 7th Day Adventist friend of mine who
shared with me that there maybe some pagan origins of the "Star of David". That really concerned me as a
believer because it makes me wonder what our Heavenly Father really thinks of these symbols we use to
represent our faith in Him. This friend of mine says that the Star of David originated from the pentagram
which has long been considered a pagan symbol. Of course that requires study, because unfortunately you
cant take people at their word, only God.

I'm thinking no more symbols of any kind, unless I make it up myself, at least I'll know my own heart,
and the intent of it should I create such a symbol for my faith.

With all due respect, I didn't know anything about the pagan orgins of the hoilday until you just presented
them to me. I really don't know what the truth is because I wasn't around and history is rewritten so much
who can really know the truth about Valentines Day. God is supposed to be a redeemer, a saviour. Is it
not possible for a holiday to be cleaned up as well as a human spirit. Is anything too hard for God? Maybe
I suck at understanding the Bible I did read something about being known by your love for one another
and about not trying to gain God's favor by works. I can't please God. I have to rely on Jesus as a
mediator. It just seems like I have so much more to work on by perfecting love toward other humans
(because this is very hard for me, I think God should have just killed us all. We are just evil.) than in
being fearful that I have sinned by sending a Valentine to my boyfriend. The fact is that I can't live by all
the law.

The problem with telling MOST of the Church the truth about what they really HOLD TO THEIR
HEARTS AS TRUTH OR EVEN FUN TO DO ,IS the usual line of excuses INSTEAD of "I repent of
this Idol Worship, and vow to NEVER TOUCH IT AGAIN!" This is the sad state of the Church world in
bed with the world, but rest assured the REMNANT WILL KEEP SOUNDING THE ALARMS AND
WARN THEM ANYWAY,THAT'S OUR JOB! May God richly bless your ministry brother!
Friday February 16, 2007 - 10:35am (AKST)

   * Yehon…
Shalom, "Uncommon", Sandy, Blond Renee, and "Godsman" : ). "Uncommon", no,..the Star of David,
which is called the "Magen David" is not occultic in nature. As another brother (who studies like me)
confirmed recently, we must note that there are pagan parallels (counterfeits) to many things. The fish
symbol (which was used by first century Jewish believers as was the Magen David) has huge pagan
parallels. The whole story of Yeshua's birth has pagan parallels. The stars have been perverted from the
true story YHWH set in it. The zodiac is a huge rip off of the 12 tribes of Israel and their, symbols,
personalities, the way they camped in the wilderness around the tabernacle, etc.. (not including
horoscopes, those are false.)

There is an ancient hieroglyph of the Magen David (not called that at the time of course) which was
showed to represent YHWH's protection over the 12 tribes of Israel with the 12 points of the star. It could
also represent the exact encampment of the 12 tribes of Israel, 3 on each side with the Levites in the
middle (Efraim and Menashe being half-tribes since they are sons of Yosef). This is the same kind of
image we get with the star.

Also, first century believers in Yeshua(Jesus) used the fish and Magen David symbols along with the
menorah. One of many ancient artifacts in Jerusalem with this symbol is a
first century anointing oil jar with the Aramaic inscription "La Shemen Ruehon", which means, "For the
Oil of the Spirit". These spirit filled Jewish followers of Yeshua from the first century either knew
Yeshua or were the children of those who knew Yeshua. This is strong evidence that suggests that the
Magen David is not an original pagan symbol but has only been ripped off by paganism like so many
other things.

                                                     7
Also, a very interesting note is that the fish is representative of Israel. Two fish are representative of the 2
houses of Israel - Efraim and Judah. So this Messianic symbol is actually a picture story of both houses of
Israel being united into one house (represented by the fish) with the Magen David representing the
protection over all 12 tribes, and the menorah representing the 7 Spirits of YHVH. That is the ultimate
goal of Yeshua's death and his return - to unite Israel and make both houses one once more.

Sandy, rather than writing a message (due to being pressed for time and about to begin my shabbot, I'll
paste what brother Yehudah said to the newest blog : "Sadly when one is so attached to traditions and
customs we tend to be willingly blind to the truth of the matter and make excuses to keep hold of our
sacred cows. Paganism cannot be redeemed and used for good. Christmas will always be the birthday of
Tammuz, Saternalia, Mithrah and never that of our Messiah. Similarly the symbol for the heart. Why do
we have to draw it to "show" our love anyway? Why can't we write it, or better yet show it. No, it is
entierly possible to live free from paganistic entrapments. The onlything we can "take back" from the
devil was that which was originally ours take for instance the rainbow. Homosexuals are using it for their
cause but it G-d originally gave it to us through Noah. Lights are used at X-mas time to call back the stag
god of spring, but we had a "Festival of Lights" way before pagans did. If it was originally ours, use it. If
it is pagan in origin, especially to symbolize sex and orgies, I say we refuse to use it. You cannot redeem
that which was satanic and pagan in origin."

Amen, "Godsman" : ). May we watchmen of Adonai keep on keepin on, no matter what, for Truth MUST
prevail. Amen : ). Shabbot shalom to ALL of you.

Much love in Messiah,

Yehonatan

I'm not being willingly blind to the truth. I'm not sure you are presenting truth. The facts presented came
from a website. How do I know they know the truth? As another person commented I was taught about
Saint Valentine and was not only taught about him in school but have seen other reputable programs
presenting his story as truth. Again, I'm not willingly blind to the truth I just know that many people make
up their own truth to push their agenda, and because I don't know the truth, I don't worry about it. Now I
don't know your friend Yehuda, and I don't wish to take his words out of context. I won't bring up the
other blog because of the picture so I can't see if he had more to say explaining himself futher. But I
disagree with him. If something Satanic/Pagan can't be redeemed then that means *people* cannot be
redeemed. We are born into a sinful state and Jesus said to people "You are of your father the devil". And
normally when one refers to a pagan he is speaking of a person.

Why I Removed The Hearts From My Page(it's true origins)[WARNING: Mature Content]

(Mature Content : This is a DEEP illustration of a controversial topic)

Shalom to everyone of you. I didn‟t want to discuss this, but am feeling led to do so, via emails and
within this blog. For many years, I have used the symbol of the heart, for I was deceived into assuming
that it was about pure love, while not understanding it‟s true origins. The facts have been covered up
VERY well by the mainstream, in part, due to widespread commercialism. If the truth was known by the
majority, many sales would be lost. It is also unfortunate that false myths have been circulating about it's
"history",..which is revisionist in nature. May His Light expose the hidden works of darkness for what
they truly are. Amen?
I recently removed the hearts from my background and replaced them with images of the Fire Lamp and
Aleph-Fire. Here is the meaning and origin of this pagan symbol, as I share from various sources:

(pagan site)“Ideograms are scattered throughout our past, and they serve a very valuable function.
Nevertheless, I'm going to ask you to see the heart symbol in a different, yet connected way, because I
believe it to be a sacred shape . For many in the Earthwise community that heart symbol is our version of
Sheila-Na-Gig. Sheela-na-Gigs are figurative carvings of naked women displaying an exaggerated vulva.
They are found on churches, castles and other buildings, particularly in Ireland and Britain. This concept
has been discussed by feminists for many years, and was recently re-stated by author Gloria Steinem in
her wonderful forward to The Vagina Monologues. She writes: "The shape we call a heart, whose
symmetry resembles the vulva far more than the asymmetry of the organ that shares its name, is probably
a residual female genital symbol. (Such symbols) were reduced from power to romance by centuries of
male dominance. I thought of this while watching little girls drawing hearts in their notebooks, even
dotting their i's with hearts, and I wondered: Were they magnetized by this primordial shape because it
was so like their own bodies?""

(From : lastdaytrumpetsministries) “The heart-shape was not a representation of the human heart, which
looks nothing like it. This shape represents the human female matrix or opening to the chamber of sacred
copulation."

(From Wikipedia) : “The "heart" shape could also be considered to depict features of the human female
body, such as the female's pubic mound or vulva. A Sumerian cuneiform symbol for "woman" closely
resembles the heart shape, and is believed to directly depict the pubic mound."
Since there have been some who refuse to believe this, due to not understanding the similarities, I have
found two images and placed them side by side for a very clear representation, so that there will be no
doubt. Please forgive the bluntness. This is solely for educational purposes. The truth must be known, and
prevail over the lies of darkness.

I think it is really great that you have the knowledge that you have about all of this stuff you have been
pointing out and the "true" origins of things. Sweety you know that i just truly adore you and I mean no
disrespect, but if we were to know the true origins of everything in this world...you would just have to go
live in a cave by yourself and not communicate to anyone or be a part of anything. If my vigina is in the
shape of a heart, then the good Lord above made it that way! And I love hearts and i love it when my 2 yr
old sees them and point them out to me! and I am even more excited for the day when she can draw on it
and writes I LOVE JESUS inside it. Like I said I really get where ur comin from, but this is just too
much. And please, I do not need any more lectures or a furthur explaination, you have said enough. God
bless sweety, know that you are loved.

Shalom my brother this is so true and thank you for being brave :) but also we as humans put a name tag
on many things or even change things for our own good and so on.Alas the heart is a simble of love and
forgiveness and compassion and so on-was not Y,Shua,s heart full of love to as he died on that wooden
stick for all of us.So yes also Pagan rituals to use this simble but is it not up to each person how they see
the heart as most see it as love and for one another and also the love of Y`Shua to.
May G-D bless you and i must say i enjoy so much to come here and read .

I appreciate your candor and courage for this blog, however, I kind of feel the same way as Lady Abigail
and Yeshua...The Word says we are to work out our own salvation and I believe that if a person is
convicted of something then they must stop it. But unless you have been convicted of it by the Holy Spirit
then I am not sure that a little heart is significant enough of a symbol to destroy your relationship with
                                                      10
Christ. It does seem like everything that has been "traditional" now is being called, "paganistic". The
other thing I want to mention is that you used a quote from Gloria Steinem, a known feminist, who has
supported abortion. We must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We are not to be
ignorant, but to study to show ourselves approved. With all due respect I hope your day is blessed
abundantly. Love and Peace ~1wing

Sadly went one is so attached to traditions and customs we tend to be willingly blind to the truth of the
matter and make excuses to keep hold of our sacred cows. Paganism cannot be redeemed and used for
good. Christmas will always be the birthday of Tammuz, Saternalia, Mithrah and never that of our
Messiah. Similarly the symbol for the heart. Why do we have to draw it to "show" our love anyway? Why
can't we write it, or better yet show it. No, it is entierly possible to live free from paganistic entrapments.
The onlything we can "take back" from the devil was that which was originally ours take for instance the
rainbow. Homosexuals are using it for their cause but it G-d originally gave it to us through Noah. Lights
are used at X-mas time to call back the stag god of spring, but we had a "Festival of Lights" way before
pagans did. If it was originally ours, use it. If it is pagan in origin, especially to symbolize sex and orgies,
I say we refuse to use it. You cannot redeem that which was satanic and pagan in origin.

All symbols are pagan! The language of symbols was created by the humanist after the separating of
languages at Babel in a attempt to create a language that would be "universal" and impossible to separate
like the tongues of mankind! Next we should look at the hexagram. The hexagram having six points, six
slants, and six planes represents man! (head, arm, leg, PHALLUS, leg, arm)... Good info though on this
post! I wasn't aware of the symbol like that. I was thinking it was someone bending over in the nude and
the heart was the backside if you know what I mean...? Ihulim Lehabeim..shalm

Woah! I have never been so up close and personal with my own anatomy....LOL
What is sad is that people are going to refuse to believe what your saying. Just like scripture says, people
will follow a delusion.

A lot of belief systems have mixed error with truth. Causing many to walk the broad road. This means
large....look at how many people are following certian belief systems. Can you count them? People should
always put there walk in check.....There are many people trapped into following this delusion. I was once
here, I pray that for your sake you seek the truth, and nothing but the truth no room for errors. It doesn't
matter how much good comes of it, if it is teaching error (falsehood). Remember nothing unclean can

                                                      11
come to the father. Do some research and find that narrow road. Jerimiah 6:16 look for the old paths and
walk in it. So are people not really following the true word?

They are following whatever a leader says because they think they have the time to study and know the
facts. Woe to these leaders! When dealing with the facts we need to be taking this stuff seriously.

Worship is not going and singing and dancing before our creator and leaving a building feeling all fuzzy
and warm. True worship is OBEDIANCE to his word.
I better stop or I will keep going...
I am sorry, I guess I just got my feathers ruffled and found myself on a tangent. LOL

What I came to say is that it is sad how error was mixed and programed into us so early in life the four
basic shapes we learn in preschool circle, triangle, square, rectangle then the next two are heart and star.
Teachers make these to be the most fun!!!

Never get discouraged on telling the facts brother
Yah bless him and all that read the truth!
Shabat Shalom!

Shalom to all of you. First of all, thank you to those who shared that you understand the need for
presenting the facts as they truly are, without sugarcoating or continuing to cover up Real-ity. As for any
of you who were offended, I apologize for making you feel that way. But as I explained within my blog,
several people had not understood the connection or the similarities between the heart-symbol and the
female vulva, and were saying that it was all lies. I was specifically following the leading of the Holy
Spirit as a teacher to make this issue clear, undeniable, and leaving no place for doubt within anyone's
mind. That is part of my calling,..to present the Word and His Truths in a clear manner to teach others,
with His Light exposing the hidden works of darkness. YHWH specifically says in Jeremiah 10:1-3, that
we should NOT learn the ways of the Gentiles/heathens/pagans, nor practice their customs, for they are
futile. He wants us to be separate from the world's ways, and sancified, set apart, and holy unto Him, just
as He is holy. We're destined to stand out from amongst the corrupt system, not being one with it, and
appearing just as they do, doing the same things by "following the crowd", and succumbing to the status
quo. I'm sorry if following Him offends you, and hope that you do understand that if a message doesnt
make it's point or prove Itself, then people do not believe and therefore continue in their ungodly
traditions. The Truth is brutal sometimes. The sooner we face up to this, the better off we will be, and
what did Yeshua/Yehoshua(Jesus) say? “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Not
just Truth about Him, but about everything, for it loosens and separates us from the lies which have been
bound to us and created strongholds for far tooooo long. Even if some of you think that you didnt need to
hear this message, many others did,..and also,...I had NO way of knowing who exactly needs to hear
what. I simply sent the email to everyone on my list and blogged for all to see. I will say this, I most
likely will never be led to post something of such a graphic nature as this ever again, and pray to Him that
you wont allow this one topic to create a breach and divide us, for the Holy Spirit wants to do soooo
MUCH more in our midst in the days ahead. May you have a nice evening and weekend. YHWH bless
you in the Name of Yeshua(Jesus). Shabbot Shalom.

Sincerely,

Yehonatan

I sure won't be looking at a heart symbol in the same way ever again.
I must say that I totally disagree with those that say It is too hard to live in the world without including
these pagan symbols in our lives. We are to be in the world but not to be part of the world.
If we continue on as the world does even after we know the truth about a matter then we are certainly held
accountable.I know it would be easier to remain blind to these things, but surprisingly many refuse to let
go of tradition. We are to be a set apart people and not cling to man made traditions. Bravo that you
removed them from your blog and Love us enough to warn us also....HaleluYah!!If you know the truth

   * Yehon…
Shalom :). Right now, I'm relaxing and enjoying a very peaceful shabbot, with the candle lit in the
background and just ate a nice dinner (which was cooked before sundown).'Ariy'el, todah rabbah, achi,
for sharing much Truth, and I agree wholeheartedly that it is MUCh better to live in a cave than to be OF
the world, and connected with and infected by the darkness of the Babylonial system. However, I do not
agree that the symbol on Bibles, which I assume you're speaking of the cross, as being solely pagan, just
like I disagree with YisrahkYah about the Star of David. I'll explain, even though numerous variations of
cross-like symbols have been used by pagans for millennia, the fact still remains that Yeshua(Jesus) was
crucified on one, and He commands us to "take up your CROSS and follow Me." He never said, "stay
away from crosses. They're bad for you." I am VERY much aware of many pagans using them in ancient
times as well as modern, for I used to be one, for over 16 years. However, If HE uses something and then
tells us to take it up(figuratively, symbolically, and spiritually), then who are we to say otherwise? This
cross symbolizes the denial and crucifixion of the lower, Adamic nature. Then through this process, we
tap into the true Life of the Spirit. When I see a cross symbol, I think ONLY about one thing, what He did
for me(us), and what we're called to do in His Name. In reply to YisrahkYah : As for the Star of David,
which is called the "Magen David", it is not occultic in nature. Right now, I'm using this symbol(in
Messianic form) as a part of one of my profile pics, and also (in regular form) on my background. As
another brother (who studies like me) confirmed recently, we must note that there are pagan parallels
(counterfeits) to many things. The fish symbol (which was used by first century Jewish believers as was
the Magen David) has huge pagan parallels. The whole story of Yeshua's birth has pagan parallels. The
stars have been perverted from the true story YHWH set in it. The zodiac is a huge rip off of the 12 tribes
of Israel and their, symbols, personalities, the way they camped in the wilderness around the tabernacle,
etc.. (not including horoscopes, those are false.) There is an ancient hieroglyph of the Magen David (not
called that at the time of course) which was showed to represent YHWH's protection over the 12 tribes of
Israel with the 12 points of the star. It could also represent the exact encampment of the 12 tribes of Israel,
3 on each side with the Levites in the middle (Ephraim and Menashe being half-tribes since they are sons
of Yosef). This is the same kind of image we get with the star. Also, first century believers in
Yeshua(Jesus) used the fish and Magen David symbols along with the menorah. One of many ancient
artifacts in Jerusalem with this symbol is a first century anointing oil jar with the Aramaic inscription "La
Shemen Ruehon", which means, "For the Oil of the Spirit". These spirit filled Jewish followers of Yeshua
from the first century either knew Yeshua or were the children of those who knew Yeshua. This is strong
evidence that suggests that the Magen David is not an original pagan symbol but has only been ripped off
by paganism like so many other things. Also, a very interesting note is that the fish is representative of
                                                      13
Israel. Two fish are representative of the 2 houses of Israel - Ephraim and Judah. So this Messianic
symbol is actually a picture story of both houses of Israel being united into one house (represented by the
fish) with the Magen David representing the protection over all 12 tribes, and the menorah representing
the 7 Spirits of YHVH. That is the ultimate goal of Yeshua's death and his return - to unite Israel and
make both houses one once more. Amen and amen, Jay : ). Todah rabbah for coming by and sharing this
from your spirit, achoti. Jason, YES, we SHOULD change our calendar BACK from the (pagan sun-god
based)Gregorian to (holy lunar YHWH based) Hebrew days.

I am so very glad you posted this, Yehonatan. I'm also glad you are a man. Cuz people seem to listen to
men more than to women. I am thinking of closing down my page cuz I've been accused of being
arrogant, puffed up, full of my own carnal wrath, etc. I am so sick of people trying to justify their lust of
their flesh and minds by refusing to cast aside all of these paganistic, God-dishonoring symbols,
"holidays", etc. Each time I have learned of the pagan origin of something that was mainstream, I cast it
aside. How can I say I love God and honor him if I continue to embrace the symbolism and customs of
idolatry? How is it that my life will be bereft of any meaning and value by refusing to hold on to these
things? They mean nothing to me - better said, they mean DISRESPECT for my beautiful Saviour who
gave his all for me. I have enough struggles in the flesh to deal with - anything I can cast aside I will cast
aside. I have not felt any loss to my life by casting away these things as I discover them. In fact, I rejoice
that someone, somewhere, had the guts to go against the crowd and tell me the truth.

I just left an IM chat being accused of all of these things. I was told that I am unloving and arrogant and
that this is why people have forsaken me - that I push them away. I was also told I have no humility, and
that my bold posts are motivated by my own wrath, and not by love. If these people only knew how many
tears I have cried, and how many times I have been facedown on the floor, crying for the souls of those
who won't listen to the Word of God - grieving for the lack of honor and respect these people have for
God - apologizing to God IN THEIR BEHALF for their complacent, happy-to-stay-ignorant and Word-
despising natures.

I'll say no more. Cuz who wants to hear it from me? After all, I am despised myself. I'm glad there is you
and others who continue to post the hard truths. I THANK GOD FOR YOU IN DOING THIS. AMEN.

"Shalom Yerusalem", I pray that you will not allow the opposition from the enemy to deter you from
keeping on in sharing His Truth as a messenger. May we never "throw in the towel", simply because of

Well, I strongly disagree with your post. I think you are going to have to do away with ALL symbols
then, wedding rings, the fish and cross symbols, calendars, the word "amen".

It was the tree of knowledge that got adam and eve into trouble. I have heart stickers given to me by my
church church to post wherever to be a reminder to pray. Not that we should need reminders, but I find
comfort when I go to my coffee pot and am reminded to pray.

Furthermore, I think linking to the image would have been suffice; not putting it in peoples' faces. Lastly,
I don't do THAT to my vulva, and if I have a heart or two, or use a heart on a greeting card to show my
love to someone, I do not believe the Lord is grieved. He knows what's in my heart. We are to be child-
like!

(I will PM you the rest of my thoughts on this)

   * Yehon…
Shalom, MadmX and Amie. Keep spreading the Truth as a messenger, MadmX. May His Spirit guide you
in all things to do His will. Amie, no,..we do not have to do away with the fish and cross symbols, for
they were used by the original disciples and early Church from the first century A.D., according to
archeaological finds near the Upper Room, etc., in Jerusalem, and are carbon dated, and compared to
other findings and Church writings to substantiate the claim of this time and group of people who used
them. Yeshua called us to be "fishers of men", and the fish symbolizes this. This is also referred to within
Ezekiel's vision of the River in 47:9, both literally of physical fish for food, and also as a parallel type and
foreshadowing symbol of spiritual harvest. I already explained the cross symbol up above in response to
someone else. Likewise, yes, I already mentioned that the only holy calendar and days of week system is
that which YHWH specifically created and set forth within His holy word. It was the pagan-influenced
Roman institution which changed the times and the seasons against His will. This is a fact, which is
confirmed by history. We are currently under the corrupt Gregorian (sun-god based) calendar, with each
name of the days and months being tributes to ancient pagan deities. Each time we say the name of the
days, months, we are invoking their names. Does this please Abba? No way! We are called to return to
the Ancient Paths, and be separate from the world's Babylonial ways. Until we do so, we are mixed and
diluted, contaminated and impure. You and a few others seem to think or imply that knowledge is bad or
something. Does He not specifically say within His Word, "My people perish for LACK of knowledge"?
It also says, "the fear(reverence) of YHWH is the beginning of knowledge." Without it,...we are ignorant
and stumble around clueless as to what is going on. There is a HUGE difference between godly
knowledge and that which is solely of the lower, Adamic self-nature. Please don't confuse the two. If you
want to keep using a symbol that is pagan and sexually-based, and assume that He doesnt care about
holiness and being separate from evil symbols, then that is between you and Him. Yes,...He knows your
heart. But,...He also says, "be holy as I am holy". If you have been shown the truth about something, and
continue in doing it anyway, whenever it's been revealed as being wrong by the exposure from His
Light,..then you become guilty of not truly changing from that particular wrong to His right way.

                                                      15
In my prayers. Shalom to you and everyone else here.

Sincerely,

Yehonatan

   * Yehon…
Shalom, achi, for sharing your view. But here's the thing : I (and other true believers) don't liken
Yeshua/Yehoshua(Jesus) to a tree or anything on earth. He was/is God-Man, the emanation of the Father
in the form of a Son, for the express purpose to redeem and save us, and then, He will come to judge and
rule. I am aware of the pagan uses of the cross symbol. However, hasatan counterfeits EVERYTHING.
He knew that the Messiah would come and die. This is why there are many false cults which precede His
time, and these false gods were believed to have been born of a virgin, died, and then raised after the 3rd
day. Just the same, I believe that it is possible that hasatan may have assumed that Messiah may die on a
cross, and this may be why he counterfeited cross symbols before His arrival and death. I'm not certain,
but it's possible. Also, whenever a true believer sees a cross image, with the Right and Proper perspective,
then it serves as a powerful reminder of the glorious Work that He did on our behalf. The thing about
graven images,...is that they serve as idols,..as things which are worshipped. The true believers do NOT
worship the cross,...but HIM who was crucified upon it,..and also, we keep in remembrance of the fact
that we also were crucified with Him on that day, by faith and identification with His death as one, and
through the lower(Adamic) self-denial, we can enter therein by faith into His Life of the Spirit, through
the power of Him who was resurrected. The Star of David(Magen David) has been used by the 12 tribes
for millennia, and also by the Early Church, from the first century A.D., as archeaological finds and early
Church traditions confirm. I will post a blog about the Messianic Seal, and show everyone these artifacts,
etc.

This article is how I feel exactly re: hearts. As stated above, I think if one wants to do away with and
chastise for a heart symbol, then u need to do for ALL "including" wedding rings. Your excuse for fish
and crosses but chastisement for hearts does not fly with me. You know...flowers could be considered
pagan too!

(Also, I still don't believe that the image glorifies the Lord in ANY WAY or MANNER and that He
would want you to post it...I just don't understand your reasoning saying He TOLD YOU to post it. It is
an x-rated drawing in my honest opinion of female genitalia!)

Is the Heart a Pagan Symbol?
Some believe that the Bible prohibits using the symbol of the heart, since it is often associated with the
pagan observance of Valentine's Day.

We should remember that God created the heart, and the Bible refers to it many times. Its writers use this
organ as a symbol of our attitude and thoughts, for example (see Genesis 6:5; Exodus 35:5; Psalm 14:1;
Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 11:29; Hebrews 4:12; etc.).

The pagans merely adopted a stylized drawing of a heart as a symbol in their worship, as for Valentine's
Day. In fact, a number of other objects in God's creation have been treated in a similar manner. However,
the misuse of an object by this or that group, even if the people are atheistic or heathen, should not
                                                     16
prohibit a Christian from putting it to a proper use. Based on this principle, it is not wrong to use the heart
shape in jewelry, pillows, cookies, or other items. Any religious usage of this symbol, of course, would
fall under the prohibitions of the second commandment (Exodus 20:4-6).

Another factor to consider is conscience. If a person feels that the heart symbol is "tainted" because of its
connection with Valentine's Day, then it would be wise to avoid its use. The Bible tells us that "whatever
is not from faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). (source: http://bibletools.org)

Furthermore, I could not say it better than this article...

ABOUT ME: I do not endorse nor participate in pagan days, nor have any "face" images of My Lord, nor
use icons of any matter during worship

REMEMBER: History generally plays a part of the bible; and we need to study the history of the nations
along w/the bible as to get a full picture of what the Lord was saying due to the actions of the people.

I think this has caused me to want to create a new Bible Q&A Discussion at AoC! =)

I tend to agree with G-dChaser in the sense that aside from patently righteous or unrighteous
behavior/treatment of others/immorality, these things are matters of personal conviction and none of us
can judge one another in them, even after giving information, because only He knows what each of our
hearts is ready to understand regarding things like this. On the other hand, some people's responses are
telling, and the behavior of others is telling. Another person posted the same essay Yehonaton did on
Valentine's Day, and someone responded critically of it, saying how ludicrous it was to focus on things
like this when there are things that are so much more important, and this type of thing just drives people
away from Christianity. But upon looking at that person's 360, the Friends list was filled with Valentine's-
themed icons where nude or mostly-nude figures stretched in seductive poses in front of big heart
symbols. This is Christian? Yes, Christianity includes sinners, but not their sins! So my response to that
attitude is this:
I completely agree that it is high time we reject all observances that have their origins in opposition to the
worship of One True Creator of Life and Love and everything we truly celebrate. As Paul said on Mars
Hill at the shrine to the Unknown G-d, "In times past, He winked at our ignorance, but now commands
men everywhere to repent." I believe we are experiencing this anew. People argue that rejecting these
things puts people off of Christianity; but are these people really following Christianity? So many
people's versions of Christianity and innocent, harmless celebrations involve crude joking, sexual
innuendo, elevation of sex appeal and at least partial nudity that no one ever would have considered
Christian even a generation ago. Are we just more enlightened now, are those features of Christianity
simply obsolete now? Do those things no longer focus us too much on ourselves, cause temptations that--
not always, but still far, far too often--cause broken relationships to hurt families and their children? Or
are broken relationships and abandonment perfectly all right now, too? The Christ I know does freely
accept all sinners into His arms, but He doesn't accept their sins, but this is what so many Christians seem
to be preaching now! In the church I grew up in, I have been amazed with how much infidelity, divorce
and remarriage, actual serial marriages between one member and multiple others have taken place, which
again, a generation ago would have been unheard-of. I have seen these things terribly affect the children,
and in this small town, even cause difficulties for my own children. Is it really so harmless to celebrate
romance at the "Ides of February" rooted in what was considered the spiritually strongest point of a Sun-
based month artificially shortened in order to ascribe God-like greatness to an emperor, and devoted to
replacing love with lust? Doesn't it seem like in these modern times, with Christianity already so
                                                      17
spiritually weakened, these holidays are simply returning to their spiritual roots? Shouldn't we respond by
returning to our own spiritual roots? There is so much richness there, I promise you won't lose a thing and
you'll gain so much!

I already see, so often, pagans, atheists, and agnostics justifying their beliefs because of how Christianity
so cluelessly participates in them. I see yet another movement taking shape that plainly describes itself as
embracing Christianity *as* a pagan religion, and makes no secret of syncretizing it with every other
belief system out there. This sounds ominously like the final spiritual teachings of anti-Christ described in
Revelation. Yes, we should not unnecessarily push people away, but we shouldn't be so concerned with
that so as to accept just anything besides Scripture into our belief system!
HAVING SAID ALL THIS: I also agree with the point about making "big stinks" about these things.

HAVING SAID ALL THIS: I also agree with the point about making "big stinks" about these things. I
believe they need to be addressed, but I would hope not in such a "killjoy" way as some of the remarks in
the above essay seemed to be doing. This is what I love about really returning to our own Scriptural roots,
that is, through the lens of Jewishness, the people without whom we wouldn't even have the Scriptures--
not just in ancient times, but they have been keeping them intact for us all the way to our modern times,
against all odds. There have been so few of them--a spiritually necessary thing, because how many people
could truly serve among this 2nd Witness to Our Creator's truths and still be ignorant that Christianity's
Messiah was theirs too? Not very many. But there always have been those few, praying prayers that are
even in His name, not realizing Who it was.

So what's to love about Jewishness, besides their having perfectly preserved the Hebrew Scriptures for us,
which the Church demonstrably would *not* have done on its own? Well, they have so much more to
celebrate! And it all originates in the Word, and you can still celebrate love, romance, salvation, the birth
of the Redeemer, and just crazy dress-up fun and gift-giving, but in contexts that are all perfectly in line
with Scripture and open your mind to its most powerful truths while you're having fun.

Did you know that for most observant Jewish people, every 7th Day is to be not just a Day of Rest, not
just devoted to prayer and worship, but also especially a time to encourage love and romance between
husband and wife? And every New Moon, 12 or 13 times a year, is considered a time to especially honor
her, do everything for her, with special things and gifts as well?

Now in my own life, the way this knowledge has worked in me is that though I may never absorb all of
this Jewish observance, and may not (yet) do something special like that every New Moon, I do at least
remain committed to the idea, and I will at least make sure my wife does not feel left out at this time of
year by doing all that stuff on the nearest New Moon to this time. I so love it when I can make her feel
good, talking about it like this is gettin me revved up to want to really go for it, not just this month but
every month, actually. It could be so fun and do so much, so much more quickly, to get us closer in
understanding one another, coming up with new ideas to keep it special, that often!

And I certainly respect when others just simply don't have the knowledge. It is a very Jewish principle, as
well as a Christian one, that it is very wrong to make anyone feel condemned for what they are doing in
ignorance, and there is also a big difference between being told something and being given a true
conviction on it. Just today, the nursing home where I work had a Valentine's day party. I didn't go around
telling all those people trying to do something special for the residents there that this was all wrong. In
fact, having taken a lot of years of piano study, and played a lot on my own, I agreed in advance to play
the piano for the Valentine's party, and dressed up in my tux and everything.

I was even willing to play all the standards like "Let Me Call You Sweetheart", "Daisy, Daisy", "Drink to
Me Only With Thine Eyes", all that stuff, but it just never worked out that I had time to practice that. I
                                                      18
ended up playing a lot of the romantic classical stuff I know, and all the appreciation people expressed
really made me glad I did. And it was wonderful that in my heart, just like when Naaman was healed of
his leprosy, and he asked for soil from Israel that he could kneel upon when his (presumably elderly)
master wanted to lean on him when kneeling to an idol, I could feel a completely pure conscience
regarding what I was doing.

& here's another "But having said that": Though there are more important things spiritually than what we
do on Feb. 14th and other certain days or whether we have certain symbols laying around, and though it's
wrong to make "big stinks" in ways that drive people away, like I said, I do agree that they need to be
addressed. There are just certain times and places where that's appropriate, and times and places where it's
not. I think a blog on the Web is perfectly suited to it. I must say I do agree with someone up there that
said it would have been better if you had just linked to that image instead of putting it inline in the blog
entry, so we would have a little more choice about whether or not we really needed to see that! Anyhow,
also hope some of this other info about Jewish celebrations of love and family help so that this issue
doesn't have to be presented as such a hard blow and a deprivation.

I think of it as like food offered to idols. Ideally we should regard it as nothing, and not be afraid of it if
(and this is a big if) it will indeed cause more stumbling to someone to object to it, *and* it is clear we are
not giving any glory to an idol in what we do with it, or presenting the symbol or whatever as something
G-dly. Because as was said of food offered to idols, the New Testament Scriptures also plainly abhor the
idea of anyone teaching people that they *should* eat it, like it's a test of faith everyone must pass or
something!

Personally, the understanding given to me prohibits me from using either the heart or the cross symbols. I
am not convinced about the Magen David, so though I have some stuff with Magen David on it, I don't
particularly make a point of using it or not using it. For one thing, many people object to it because of its
association with Kabbalah, and Kabbalah is one of those things that has been patently misunderstood by
many because occultists have indeed seized on many of its principles to distort them to their own
purposes. But if that's your standard for rejecting them, then you may as well reject Christianity and
Y'Shua Himself, too, because of all the parallels to Christian principles and Y'Shua that can be found in
the occult. To me, the Magen David presents a perfect picture of 3 that bear Witness on earth--the water,
the blood, and the spirit (triangle pointing up) and the 3 that bear Witness in Heaven--the Father, the
Word, and the Spirit (triangle pointing down), overlapping and becoming One through the common
element of the Spirit, as Y'Shua said about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, these words are Spirit,
and they are life. When He was crucified, water and blood poured from His side, after He had said,
"Father, into thy hands I commend My Spirit." Speaking of Water, a prophet asked Israel, allegorically
talking about false teaching, why they would abandon the pure snow-waters of Lebanon for strange
waters. You may know that though every snowflake, as water becomes when it condenses and freezes in
the air, is different, all snowflakes carry the form of the Magen David.

Like Y'Shua said to His disciples when He was gittin ready t'bless the vittles,

Shalom Aleichem! ("Peace be upon you")

Brother, I used to be into paganism of all kinds of different types...and the thing I noticed then as i looked
into and studied the stuff I was into at the time is that most of the modern world does not celebrate or
                                                      19
have any real regard to any pagan symbol, deity or feast...in fact i knew many witches who were actually
offended by the way people saw and celebrated Christmas, Easter and Halloween in general. As they saw
it the world around them has absolutely no regard or respect to what they called "the old ways". The
response you have had to the fact of the origin of the heart symbol proves the fact that most in the world
frankly couldnt care less about gods and symbols worshipped by pagans/witches..etc....so clearly..and this
is my point...they are not being used within the context of a true pagan setting with that meaning behind
them. This sounds like a change of subject...but it isnt...I haapen to like owls..to me they are just really
cool..amongst other things i have an owl shaped lamp..but guess what..I discovered fairly recently that the
owl is used as some kind of symbol in Freemasonery...does this mean I should now no longer like owls?
Lastly, if I were to post a blog on the evils of witchcraft and paganism, the simple common standards of
decency, respect for others and most importantly for the Lord would prevent me from resorting to posting
graphic images of pagan rituals. There is a standard my friend, and there is nothing i have seen here that
even remotely tells me that God "told you" to address this issue in this way. However, that's between you
and God...and I'm not judging you..but I am judging the message and the fruit..and that is the
responsibility of every believer. See you around sometime.

  * Shalo…
Hey! I have an idea! How 'bout we start using only the symbols God came up with? Then we can still use
symbols but they won't be offensive to God! Sounds like a plan! And I also wish to add that comparing an
owl, a creature of God, to a symbol which is totally manufactured in the minds and hands of men is not a
plausible argument. That's like comparing apples to Playdough.

Wait til they hear about the etymology of the word, "Easter." And about the Christmas tree and its orb-
shaped ornaments. Hmmmmmm....

Shalom, everyone. Thank you for your responses. I respect your opinions, and this is the cool thing about
discussions,....every person gets to voice what they believe as we all strive in His glorious Name to find
the fullness of Truth together as one in the Body. YHWH bless you all in the Name of our Messiah.
Goodnight, and shalom : ).

I said I wasn't going to look at this entry because that picture is nasty but the temptation to see what others
thought was too great.
About the owl, Since when has the vagina been manufactured by men?
Monday February 19, 2007 - 12:16am (EST)

  * Sandy
Also, How about the etymology of the word, "pedophile?" It means, "one who loves children." Who
doesn't love children? Whatever the etymology of the word "Easter" is, etymology is deceptive if you rely
on it exclusively.

Good point, Sandy. It wasn't manufactured by man. *Depicting it* was manufactured by man.

*Depicting* an owl is manufactured by man, too, but according to the other guy, that's Godly while the
other isn't.
Monday February 19, 2007 - 01:28am (EST)

  * Bill
Well an owl is out in plain view and is supposed to be out in plain view. That other work of the Creator is
(usually) not and is not supposed to be. Some people misinterpret the 2nd commandment as a prohibition
against making any type of image, but it only applies to anything directly associated with worship, in a
way that one might begin to imagine not being able to worship properly without that particular image.
However, a sexual image is almost automatically in that category, because inciting or evoking those
desires improperly is reasonably and Scripturally seen as something that becomes more powerful in the
mind than the Creator, and draws it away from true worship.
Sunday February 18, 2007 - 10:36pm (PST)

   * Sandy
1) A vagina is only *not* in plain view because mankind covers it. That doesn't say much one way or the
other about God's intentions regarding that.
2) The second commandment (according to Jesus)is to love your neighbor as yourself. Be careful with
citing that and sex in the same paragraph.
3) When I actually see someone fall on his knees and pray to a clitoris, then maybe I'll start thinking
you're on to something. Until then, no. There's no equivalency to God here. No matter what your
interpretation of the second *Exodotian* commandment is.
Monday February 19, 2007 - 02:32am (EST)

   * Bill
1) but the Scriptures *do* say what the Creator's intentions are regarding it.
2) You are correct. The 10 utterances are never individually called commandments ("mitzvot") by the
Torah. They are called "devarim", utterances. The first 5 of them tell you how to observe the 1st
commandment, and the last 5 tell you how to observe the 2nd. I spoke of the 2nd commandment
according to the more common understanding of the word to try to keep my lengthy explanations a little
shorter, :) but you are correct.

3) As I've been saying, I can't judge what is in an individual's heart, but just as looking at a woman to lust
(according to Y'Shua) is equivalent to adultery, so also covetousness (of which lust is one type) is equated
to idolatry in Eph. 5:5. Logic tells me that it is because something has become more powerful than the
Creator in one's life. (The word translated "gods" in "no other gods before Me" can simply mean "mighty
ones" or "powers"). Obviously only the person involved and the Creator truly know whether that has
occurred in a person's heart. So I can't tell an individual that he or she is doing wrong by using a symbol.
Just want to make this clear, because this is seeming more & more like an argument, which I don't intend!
I can, however, explain my own conviction on the matter, and point to current societal trends as well as
origins to show how something is tilting more toward the idolatrous in a way that has no place in my own
personal walk with Messiah. We are indeed told to flee idolatry, that is to distance ourselves from it as
much as possible.

That doesn't mean so much avoiding physical proximity and being a hermit. As I mentioned above, I with
a clear conscience played the piano at the Valentine's Day banquet in the nursing home where I work. The
distancing is in being scrupulous that while not being judgmental toward others and never letting them
think I don't love them, I am making sure that no special acknowledgement of something idolatrous is
originating from me.
Shalom aleichem! :)
