Web Developer

WEB DEVELOPER CLASS PURPOSE To provide leadership in the design, development, implementation and support of Web operations on an agency-wide level; perform related work. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This level is the fully functioning level capable of performing all the duties described below and those expected of a Web Design Specialist and some functions of a Web Master. Incumbents are capable of working independently and without the need for assistance from professional information technology positions. They may have project leadership responsibilities for multi-faceted integrated database and web applications. An agency utilizing a position at this level would probably have its own server. EXAMPLES OF WORK (Incumbents will perform most or all of the following:) Incumbents establish policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and applications; review and assign priority for potential Web applications; identify human and fiscal resources to aid in the design and development of Web enabled applications; research opportunities to publish and expand Web applications; identify training requirements for other Web Developers and/or Web Designers; may install and configure Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) servers; establish server directory trees, segregating public and private files; design, develop and update information in databases; diagnose and fix bugs and problems with Web a
