TV DIRECTOR/VIDEOGRAPHER CLASS PURPOSE To direct and shoot original and assigned instructional or public television film, electronic field production (EFP), studio, or remote programs; edit videotapes; perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Director. Typical responsibilities: directs and coordinates camera operators in positioning, movement, and sequence of shots; directs and coordinates sequence and use of video materials through the operation of production switcher; directs personnel in the program production process; directs and coordinates talent; determines creative style or treatment of the aural and visual components of a production; works with producer to determine content and format of video tape productions based on pre-editing material and purpose of production; duplicates and inserts program segments on master tape; operates 1/2" BetaCam, 3/4" or 1" video tape editing equipment, time base corrector, electronic still store, television production switcher, character generator, audio board and video switcher; determines content and format of film production based on pre-editing material and purpose of production. 2. Videographer. Typical responsibilities: operates portable videotape and 16mm camera equipment and EFP equipment; positions and focuses video and film cameras to determine appropriate shots of persons and objects; operates and uses sound recording and portable lighting equipment; anticipates and visualizes module production into final composite; operates television production switcher. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Good knowledge of: various video artistic styles, methodologies and effects. Experience in a professional broadcast environment: operating portable EFP and videotape camera equipment; organizing and scheduling a TV production team in the studio and remote location; operating sound recording equipment and portable lighting equipment; operating television switcher; directing live studio and remote television productions; operating either 1/2" BetaCam or 1" videotape editing equipment; operating character generator, audio board, video switcher and 1" videotape machines.
