REMOTE SENSING ANALYST, TECHNICAL CLASS PURPOSE To plan, perform, and oversee complex remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) development and analysis projects. Provides remote sensing and GIS application consultation as an agency and interagency consultant on remote sensing and GIS applications; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This position acts as a lead to others and a consultant to the department and other agencies. Incumbents are involved in decision-making and project management requiring a high level of knowledge. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Applies a high level of advanced knowledge regarding remote sensing and GIS principles and practices. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates highly technical phases of remote sensing and GIS work. Plans and coordinates work to develop improved techniques and procedures to solve unusual problems requiring creativity in the modification of conventional practices. Supervises or provides lead work to professional and/or technical staff; interviews, hires, and trains new staff; conducts annual employee performance evaluations. Prepares technical reports documenting methodologies, scope, findings, and conclusions for publication in professional journals and/or presentation at professional conferences.
