									RECREATION SPECIALIST, THERAPEUTIC CLASS PURPOSE To develop, implement and evaluate recreational therapy programs and activities for developmentally disabled, emotionally impaired, and/or special needs clients assigned to residential or outpatient care facilities; provide consultation; perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Evaluation/diagnosis/treatment. Typical responsibilities: assesses clients' recreation and activity skills; consults with other professionals regarding clients' physical disabilities; obtains medical/social/educational histories through interviews or review of case records; analyzes and interprets assessment results; participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose, and plan developmental or rehabilitative treatment for clients; determines long- and shortterm recreational treatment goals to meet clients' needs; evaluates facility therapeutic recreation procedures; conducts individual and group programs to meet established goals; refers clients to appropriate community resources; obtains materials and equipment to facilitate treatment goals; documents treatment and prepares reports; coordinates treatment with other providers; evaluates clients' needs for further treatment. 2.
