									RECORDS TECHNICIAN CLASS PURPOSE To organize, coordinate, and maintain a records-management unit producing micrographics for state departments; maintain and monitor compliance with records-management policies and procedures; consult with clients regarding records-management systems; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION An employee in this class may be exposed to hazardous materials including ammonia, sulfuric acid, chromic acid and sodium hydroxide while microfilming records. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Records management. Typical duties: programs computer-output microfilm (COM) recorder to convert new programs from magnetic (print image) tapes to microfiche for all state departments and various local governments; confers with and advises departments regarding records-management systems and to ensure computer programs meet their needs; maintains COM unit to include cleaning, changing lamps, fuses, and gaskets; coordinates and provides work direction, training, and troubleshooting to a satellite microfilm unit to insure work is performed in compliance with established standards and user needs; reviews and implements pricing structure for all micrographic services; determines daily and long-range schedules and plans for computer and source-document work based on program priorities; provides micrographic cost estimates for users; develops micrographic procedures; assists in deve
