									PRINTING REPROGRAPHICS TECHNICIAN CLASS PURPOSE To perform a variety of tasks involving reprographics services that utilize small offset printing presses or high volume network printers; perform related work GENERAL INFORMATION Incumbents in a print shop operation set up, operate, and maintain small offset printing presses to produce single and multiple color printed material. Incumbents in a copy center operation output files to network printers via network and customer disks; adjusts, programs, operates and maintains high volume network printers Work involves standing approximately 6-8 hours each day; lifting material weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. NATURE AND SCOPE Incumbents in a print shop review job tickets and determine printing specifications, machine setup procedures and needed supplies. Incumbents set up and operate offset printing machines to reproduce single and multicolor, line, and halftone materials. The process requires incumbents to prepare fountain solutions and mix ink to specified colors, install plates and masters, load printing presses, and set and adjust press controls and attachments. Machine operations are monitored to insure quality work. Incumbents provide maintenance to presses by removing plates and cleaning the presses; troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machines and perform routine maintenance; clean and file negative plates. Incumbents may operate and maintain bindery equipment and ordering and inventorying stock and supplies; may provide work direction to students or part-time help.
