POSTAL SERVICES COORDINATOR CLASS PURPOSE To supervise and coordinate a centralized postal services operation; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This work may involve being exposed to loud, continuous noise. Many positions involve climbing stairs and bending and reaching while sorting mail; some positions may involve lifting up to 70 pounds. Some positions may involve daily travel within the local service area. Some departments may require a background investigation prior to employment. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Postal services coordination. Typical duties: develops or recommends policies and guidelines relating to postal regulations and mail preparation and services; provides liaison between the department and U.S. Postal Service, and other state departments; interprets information from state and federal agencies and other sources to identify changes that effect department postal operations; responds to inquiries related to service or delayed, lost, or damaged mail; represents department on Postal Customer Council; provides technical assistance to postal services users; obtains and updates postal indicia and permits; prepares monthly postage utilization activity and accounting reports; reviews forms, envelops, and mailings to ensure U.S. Postal Service specifications are met; may maintain security of unemployment insurance benefit checks and state warrants. 2.
