									PHARMACY/DRUG COMPLIANCE OFFICER CLASS PURPOSE To conduct inspections and audits of outlets manufacturing, producing, selling, and distributing pharmaceutical drugs; enforce state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations; investigate alleged violations of related laws and regulations; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION Incumbents travel throughout an assigned area of the state and work irregular schedules. Attendance at drug enforcement administration schools may be required. A background investigation will be conducted. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Compliance inspections. Typical responsibilities: plans inspection schedule; conducts on-site inspections of outlets manufacturing, producing, selling, and distributing drugs to assure compliance and enforcement of state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards; examines and evaluates systems, methods, and procedures for drug procurement, storage, handling, and recordkeeping; audits drug inventory and records of medications dispensed and received to assure legality of sale and distribution, and determine amount in stock; identifies deficiencies and makes recommendations for corrective action; inspects and audits pharmacies involved in disasters or thefts to evaluate condition of and account for drug stock; embargoes the use and sale of damaged or toxic drug stock; w
