									PHARMACY ASSISTANT, SENIOR CLASS PURPOSE To prepare medication orders under the direct supervision of a State licensed pharmacist; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION Incumbents are required to lift and carry 30 pounds and stand for up to four hours at a time while performing job duties. Work is performed under the direct supervision of an State licensed pharmacist and in accordance with State Pharmacy Regulations. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Preparation of unit dose medications. Typical duties: separates bulk quantities of medications and medical supplies into individual doses; maintains shelf stock of medications and supplies; places unit doses of medications in patient containers; separates medication according to time-of-day for administration; types labels and name tags; operates packaging machine to package and label medication and the sealing machine for liquid medication dose; conducts sterile procedure for premeasured intermuscular medication in syringes in conjunction with pharmacist; prepares medications for patients on outings, pass or discharge; records ord
