Personnel Specialist

PERSONNEL SPECIALIST CLASS PURPOSE To implement and administer personnel programs for a company in coordination with the department's central personnel staff; provide consultation and training in personnel areas; perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Program coordination. Typical responsibilities: coordinates recruiting, testing, classification, compensation, training, civil rights, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action with the department's personnel bureau; hires and trains technical and clerical staff and evaluates performance; develops, recommends, and implements institutional personnel policies and procedures; recommends changes in department personnel programs, policies, and procedures; initiates special recruiting efforts; communicates personnel program and benefit changes to staff; supervises preparation of personnel forms, processing payroll, benefits administration, and maintenance of employee records; compiles personnel costs for budgeting purposes; develops affirmative action plans and progress reports according to department guidelines; develops and conducts or arranges for trainin
