									OFFICE SPECIALIST 1 CLASS PURPOSE To perform routine office support duties which require knowledge of office policies and procedures; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This classification will be used to fill positions involving clerical, word processing, or postal work. Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection. Some positions may require candidates to pass an extensive background investigation. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This classification is distinguished from the Office Clerk by the independent accomplishment of recurring tasks following established guidelines and procedures. NATURE AND SCOPE Under direct supervision, these positions perform general office support duties using well established guidelines.
